Tailor made Leather Jackets in Nth India

Hi Folks,

Is it possible to get tailor made leather jackets in Northern India? I would like to get a bomber style hooded leather jacket made but not sure if it's possible? I was in a shop at home and the girl said "our boss gets our jackets made in India" so i thought maybe i could get one tailor made for "me" whilst there rather than buy off the rack.

I've never tried in North India though I have had leather jackets made to measure in Chennai - even Hidesign did one for me - so it should be possible. A starting place in Delhi might be Yashwant Place in Chanakyapuri - it's full of leather shops mostly selling to Russian importers, but they should be able to make up other things. Though whether they will or not I'm not sure. The shopping centre itself isn't that brilliant - pretty run down and dirty, but the leather goods are good quality.

I don't know where you are going in North India.
Some years ago in Agra they made a leather jacket for my wife within a day. When we, at the evening, collected it another tourist came to the shop for a jacket. The owner promised to make it and bring it to her hotel next morning.

The Yashwant Place market in Chanakyapuri deals in a lot of leather and fur, due to its Russian and East European client base.

I will be in Delhi, Agra, Rajasthan, Varanassi - thought that my best bet could possibly be Delhi.

Agra is a big hub of leather manufacturing, at least for shoes, and I guess jackets as well.
