Surajkund Handicraft Mela
Hi every one, Surajkund Handicraft Mela is taking place in Faridabad near New Delhi. It will be there till the 15th of February, so those who haven’t visited it check it out. It is a fantastic place for not only seeing and buying handicrafts but also to do some photography and soak in on the cultural events taking place there.

Does anyone know the dates for the Surajkund mela in 2008. I'll arrive in Delhi on Feb 9, and this looks like a good escape from the metropolis.
Any comments on the festival experience and the availability of accomodation at that time? Thanks T. |

Well the first poster was talking about last year's dates, but it looks like it is until the 15th this year too:

Also don’t expect solitude there, there will be a lot of people, mostly young out on a date or just to have fun. Also it is much better to go there during weekdays rather than weekends, when the crowd is even more. Apart from that, it’s a colorful and fun fair and I will be going there again this year. |

I am sorry to be the one who is not impressed.
I did not think that much of it. Possibly because it was way too crowded. Wall to wall jammed. We went on a saturday. Its quite far from Gurgaon. Large, good selection of Indian craft. Personally I prefered Dilly Haat. Its smaller, has good food, lots of space, not to busy, more quality In my humble opinion. If you fancy it go during the week. Bring a picnic too. Good luck R |

I was also there on Saturday and it was crowded, but then again what do you expect on a weekend at a popular fair? Photographs of this year’s Surajkund handicraft mela
