I booked via email at Hotel Relax a couple of weeks ago for the second week in December. Originally I was quoted 1500 Rs for a room with a terrace and four beds (2 adults and 2 children). I tried some electronic bargaining and emailed back to say I had a budget of 1000 Rs. I received an email back saying "Ok you can have room for 1200 Rs".

Did you find out if the hotel was affected by the bombings in any way? I still can't work out how close the hotel is to where the bomb went off.

They didn't say, i was to glad to find all my train tickets safe

But i could hear drilling and banging in the backgound but i doubt that was bomb related.

I walked into Hotel Relax last week to book a room for tomorrow. They are generally always full from now on.

I booked a 1200R room, but they do have 800/1000R room but I guess that depends on availability.

Delhi

I arrived in Delhi 2 days ago and stayed at the metropolis tourist house in Paharganj. Pick up from airport was great because of arrival at 2am and I am travelling alone.

Paharganj is in my opinion ok and save to stay (- of course something can happen to you everywhere in the world...). When you walk up the main bazaar you see only few tourists, I was really surprised about that.

Life in Delhi seems to be normal by now. Indians I talked to in Paharganj are fed up about the constant asking about the bombings (I can understand them).

P.S.: For those who are afraid of "delhi belly" when first time visiting India and do not mind to spend a bit more on food for the first days of stay: Metropolis tourist house has also a great restaurant. Service was very fast and the food was excellent.
