South Delhi Accommodation

Hi forum,

Heading to Delhi in about a week and, after speaking with some people, have decided to stay in South Delhi - Chanakyauri and Haus Khaz sound like good neighborhoods to be in. Does anyone have accommodation recos for South Delhi? Near the metro and up to RP2000 is my hope.

Chanakyapuri is mainly embassies and cosulates. Hauz Khas is good but a tad crowded. Check out Gulmohor Park, Safderjung development Area.
Assuming that you would do some kind of work where is your work place? Long distance commuting is not very pleasant in Delhi.

Thanks for the reply. Not working. I just would like to experience Delhi away from the Old Delhi crowds, in a neighborhood that has some art galleries, restaurants and cafes. South Delhi sounds like the place. No?

Yes south Delhi is good, the areas I had mentioned are in south Delhi.

Stay near lajpat nagar,south ex,gk aur kailash colony in south delhi.
These places are easily accessible,and not too crowded.
And you can find many good hotels in this area too.

I stayed in a nice place in CR Park (right next to G.K.II), few years ago at my colleague's house. In between, he has converted it into a B&B, left his C.A. job and is now running yoga - Art of Living courses in the basement and rents 4 rooms (attached bath+kitchen) upstairs; both short & long-term. It's called Ananda B&B. Really neat, quiet, green place. Very rare for Delhi. Well connected; close to metro, markets, autos, ring road. You can google contact information.
