Somewhere to rest in Delhi for the day?

I arrive back in Delhi, and leave the same evening and would like somewhere to rest for a few hours...do hotels let you pay just for the day seeing as I would be left by 9pm, or would I need to pay for the whole 24hour period?

Does anyone know of a hotel that would do this?

Thanks.

(Sorry for perhaps a foolish question! )

Most hotels have a daily rate, less expensive ones may even have a 24 hour check in.

How are you arriving and leaving? I ask because luggage can be left at the airport, as an example.

Thank you, we arriving and leaving from Old Delhi station.
Someone else said about the left luggage facility, but my partner doesn't want to have to spend all day hanging around Delhi because we'll have just done the 19 hour train journey from Jaisalmer

If you don't want to stay the night, just pass your time by watching a movie, enjoying Delhi's food/drinks etc... why waste money on Hotel Rooms?

thats definitely a great suggestion, but considering that OP, will be tired just get your self some of the exotic delhi food( i can give more details if you put on about yours tastes etc.) and then go to some flop movie in a multiplex, ticket will be 2xx
at max. sleep in piece for 3 hours get some food and take rest for another 3 hours, if you wish this time you can actually watch a movie
