some delhi advice
those of you who are traveling to delhi soon should have no problem finding empty rooms as there are certainly plenty (in old, new and connaught). if you have never visited the city and are planning on staying in connaught circle (which isnt the best place to stay, but not as bad as many travelers would like you to believe) i would suggest the ROYAL GUEST HOUSE @ 44, janpath tel 3329485. the staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean (although i would suggest asking for a new set of bed spreads. out of all the budgets ive stayed in, this is by far the best. the staff are even willing to run and get you anything you might want and times when you really dont want to go out: say tandoori and midnight, relief for your upset stomach when you can barely walk, or hash when you dont feel like bargaining (joking)[?]. (note - i dont smoke hash)
another suggestion for those who would like access to the internet - there are a few cafes around town which vary in price. the best ive seen (especially for the price) is CYBER BAR - BE - QUE
4350, main bazar, phar ganj, new delhi - tel. 3540101. the staff is not so curteous and the computers are sllooowwww (as all the computers in north india) but the price is only 10rs. per hour and they are also open past 2am everyday. i saw one place that had 24 hr service but the charge was 85rs per hour and at the time there were no seats available.
