The ITC Muarya in New Delhi has one floor that just for women(the Eva floor). If I were to travel back to Delhi on my own I would probably stay there just because of this option. They also had an excellent concierge who could probably organize a safe tour for you. They organized train transportation and guides in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra for us upon our arrival.
Note: this option is kind of expensive. Michelle |

Some fellow asked if he could sit with me at a restaurant; he said he was from England but his accent was a bit off -- I think he was African (mixed race). My intuition didn't like him at all, so when he went upstairs to use the loo, I moved to another table where a couple of other foreigners were sitting and said that I didn't trust him -- so they were kind enough to let me join them for a while, until he went away.

Delhi is safe enough for solo women, but being caucasian expect some unwarranted attention. Other than that, shouldn't have much issue if you take a decent tour of the city!

Delhi is fine for solo women! I'm only 21 and had a great time trawling round the city on my own finding the sights and visiting all the beautiful parks (there's a lot!).
The metro is amazing, cheap and so easy and clean and I didn't have any trouble at all on it, don't think I got hassled once! Ramakrishna Ashram Marg station is down the far end of main bazaar in Paharganj (other end to New Delhi station). There's also buses going practically everywhere from the bus stand at Connaught Place and people are really helpful with finding the right bus if you know the name of the place you want to go! |
