I'm a US citizen considering an assignment in Manesar for the next 3 years. Is this kind of thing common along this road?

btw - long time troller, first post. This forum is awesome.

I have not heard about this incident..but even if it happened it would be one off incident...

And whatever is happening is happening on the highway..Manesar as it is a peaceful industrial town..

There have been a few such incidents in the last few years around Delhi, mainly in Gurgaon and surroundings.. labour problems and extreme police overreaction, the gujjar agitation and now this.

It normally does not affect middle class residents living or working in these areas, unless they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Cause for concern, yes. Major cause for concern, no, in my view.

I have working with EATON's Electrical Division at Manesar for last two years. This was first such incident. Though small incidents take place every year. It is better to be careful at late hours. But still Manesar is pollution free zone till date.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that it is an isolated incident. I won't let this have an effect on my decision, but will plan to be careful.

My wife's cousin owns a plant down there and from what I can tell it is a decent area, just too far from Delhi to be an easy daily commute.

This kind of mob violence seems to be increasingly common in this part of India.

Manesar is a daily commute from Gurgaon not from Delhi..most of the people who work in that area reside in Gurgaon OR on the other side in Bhiwadi..

About the violence, I totally agree that events of last few years have a really bad impression, but still it would not be fine to generalize, as all the incidents involved a different set of people and different set of reasons...I recall three of them..here is a small description :-

1. Honda incident - This involved workers of plant of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India..it was clash between workers, police and management, and I am sure that it didn't involve many locals and most of the workers come from other towns to work in industrial area.

2. Gujjar Incident - This as we call know was agitaion of the Gujjars and clash with Meenas, a different set of people.

3. Kanwariya Incident - Some kanwariya's, who carry holy waters of Ganga, and walk on foot to their hometowns, were killed in a road accident. So other Kanwariya's went bersek and did all what this thread is about. Again these people were just passerby's and have nothing to do with Manesar as such.

Politics apart..these are the large facts.

Once Again at Gurgaon

Hi all,
A similar incident like Manesar incident in which some kanwarias were killed by a speeding truck has struck again at gurgaon.

It is reported that two were killed again by a truck. More information will soon follow. Communters please take alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.

Um, folks, unless there's something special going on, if all members start posting their local traffic conditions this will become one busy site.

Please stick to the relevant bits, thanks.
