ringos in delhi?
i have just emailed ringos in delhi and asked about dormitory space but they have said that they can only offer me a single room as they don't do dorms any more for 90 Rs. is this correct or is it that they just want me to book into a more expensive room. i know this is a little off what this thread is about but thought someone might be able to shed some light on it for me?

For your first few nights there I wouldn't bother about paying a little more than 90 Rs. for a bed, which isn't very realistic for Delhi anyway.
Don't fret too much about getting ripped off everywhere, it will only diminish your pleasure. Ringo's has been an established place for decades, and if this is the answer they give you, I'm sure you can go by it. It's also obviously no longer 1968-rock-bottom-cheap. You can worry about small change once you've settled into it all a little & have some feeling for the approximate cost of things -- and always keeping in mind this can and will vary locally. (If this sounds cranky, it isn't meant to be. I've been there as a young newcomer, with the same worries, and not trusting to spend one Rupee. That is no way to get around. Conversely, this is no call to just pay whatever you're asked for at first, but I should hope that's clear.)

I've stayed at Ringo's for years; I'm sure they are not lying to you. The dorms weren't very nice, anyway, so it's great if they have stopped using them.
The rooms, even those with shared bath, are fine, and the people who run Ringo's are very nice. I've always been happy there. |

I stayed at Ringo's Jan 07. They used to have more rooms and dorms, but the authorities deemed it illegal, so they had to dismantle those.
A double room cost us 350 rupees. Ringo's along with Sunny guest house (a few doors away) are pretty trustworthy and friendly. |
