recommendations for a driver : delhi to agra return
hi, could anyone advise on who to pre-book as a driver (with ac car) who we could use for a trip to agra on a saturday evening, returning to delhi the next day , after a short detour to fatehpur sikri?
any travel agents/website recommendations or personal experiences most welcome. also would a car accomodate 2 kids, 2 adults and 2 suitcases, or am i better off requesting a jeep? and are both of these air-conditioned?!..also, any approx idea of prices for such a trip?!has anyone done the same?thanks, in advance ![]() |

Send an email to Raman Behal at chandhotels@yahoo.com . This is a small hotel chain in Pahar Ganj area that also run tours.
They have reasonable rates but you must insist on one particular driver called Deepak Singh and nobody else, if you explain that Malcolm from Bangalore advised this then he will understand and will not mess you about. Deepak is one of the most gentle natured human beings I have ever met and he absolutely can't bear the thought of trying to take you somewhere you do not wish to go so that he can get his baksheesh. His concept is that if he treats his passengers well and is completely honest and up front with them then his kindness will be rewarded. Of course he always gets a good tip from us purely for relieving us of the hassle! Here is enjoying the dinner of his life when we treated him at The Oberoi in Agra http://www.malcolmshipp.co.uk/DSC04454.JPG . Funny thing was, we walked in clearly as a trio and the waiter came up to us and said "Table For Two Sir", wonder what he meant by that Cheers Malc |

I've done it and it wasn't all that pleasant. We took a Qualis & all our luggage. Next time I would take the train and hire a car in Agra. The drive isn't very nice esecially in the summer!! Our Delhi rental company just handed us over to a local guide in Agra anyway. I've heaard from others that the train is the way to go.

I went from Delhi to Jaipur in December and roads are messed up due to expansion/construction. If speed is a factor, the trains are probably faster these days.
