recommend a Yoga or Traditional Clothing Shop in Delhi? Yoga Mat?
I'll be in Delhi just for a day before travelling south.
I'm looking to buy a sitara and some nice yoga style or traditional style well-made and local clothes. Can anyone recommend a shop or area to try. I'm pretty tall btw (6'2"). Also what kind of yoga mat do people prefer to travel with? get it there or bring one? the rubbery ones here are a bit heavy to lug around. Thanks ![]() |

You'll probably need to get clothing tailor-made if you are 6'2" -- whether you are a man or a woman (can't tell from your screenname). A day in Delhi won't likely be enough time for that, so get clothing in the South.
Well, if you're male, you can try the Gandhi Ashram shop on Connaught Circle to see if they have any pajamas long enough for you, but most Indians are not so tall. |

Yes, you can try Khadi Gram Udyog in CP as wonderwoman suggested. The Rikkhi Ram sitar shop is pretty closeby as well.

Tailor made is the way to go...you can do that down south. Make sure the cloth is either pre-shrunk, by you soaking it in hot water before you stitch it.... or make sure the tailor leaves room for shrinkage. It always shrinks if it's cotton... and you definitely want cotton. Be careful of bright colours, as they do run... so soak your clothing separately. Some more cool shops can be found in Main Bazaar/Paharganj. As far as yoga mats go... I've always carried my regular sticky mat from home (canada)... they do not sell them readily in India and they are worth the hassle to carry if you will be doing yoga.

you can get "travel" yoga mats from various sources in the US, like huggermugger or gaim. I brought my eco-yoga mat when I went.
