I'll be travelling to Delhi (for an onward Manali trip) on 3rd February, 2008. I'll be reaching there at around 10:00am, and my connecting bus to Manali will be at 6:30pm. I've planned to book an A/C Double Room at the Rail Yatri Niwas (near New Delhi Railway station) for those 8-9 hours.
The problem is that none of the phone numbers (as found from IRCTC site / IndiaMike threads, given as 011- 23233484, 23233561) are no longer in service. Can anyone please give me the updated numbers? Can anyone residing in Delhi (or any other forum member, who knows the updated numbers) please help me out of this problem ?I need this information badly, since I'll need to book the yatri niwas room on my return trip too (will reach Delhi from Manali at 8:00am, and connecting Rajdhani Exp. to Kolkata at 5:30pm - again a 8-9 hours transit). Thanks in advance! ~Suman Ghosh. |

Hi,
I was also trying to contact RYN at New Delhi and both the nominated phones have no reply. I even tried the PIO [Public Information Officer]'s number [23221146] nominated specifically for the Public under RTI act. That too no response. It appears the RYN is undergoing some renovation etc. and perhaps, not functioning presently. if you happen to get through, kindly inform me too through this blog or mail me at tvnathan43 AT indiatimes.com. tvnathan bangalore ![]() Last edited by machadinha : Jan 23rd, 2008 at 19:09. Hi Sumanda, here is the latest information on Rail Yatri Niwas, New Delhi. I somehow got one working number of Rail Yatri Niwas [011-23234763] from the IRCTC call centre and got the line. As I presumed, the Rail Yatri Niwas at New Delhi is under renovation and there is no bookings done at present. It appears, this will take a few more months for restoration of operations.

Taj checks into Rail Yatri Niwas with rejig deal
Business Standard — January 20, 2007 The Taj group of hotels has bagged the contract for renovating and running Rail Yatri Niwas, the well-known Delhi budget hotel owned by the railways, on a 15-year lease. As part of the deal with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which currently runs it, the Taj group will renovate the Yatri Niwas and add food courts within the complex. The makeover will be done on a redesign-operate-manage-transfer basis. The hotel will be run under the Taj group's budget hotel brand, Ginger, which has hotels in Mysore, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Haridwar and Bhubaneshwar. Full story. MOD NOTE - Above post edited, please do not copy and paste full articles/news stories, instead, please provide some details then a link to the story, thanks. |
