If you don't mind the additional cost, yes.

I find all hotel's airport pickup is arround 500-600rs. Is it reasonable?
If I use Easy Cabs, Can I book the car at airport counter when I arrive? How much from airport to Main Bazar? |

Depends on the Hotel you are using and whether AC car or regular car. The basic fare to or from Paharganj Main Market to or from the International Airport for a non-AC car is between 180-200 Rupees. If booked thru a hotel they may charge you 50 or so Rupees more. If sent at night they may ask an additional bit more for the excuse of night charge. For a non-AC car you should not be charged more than 300-350 Rs. Obviously, the convenience of getting an airport pick-up to the hotel of your choice may be well worth an additional hundred or so Rupees.

Hotel Pickups are Rs.500-700 these days... If you hire the radio cab from the airport counter you can expect to pay around Rs.350 (Night charges may vary by 25 %), only Easy Cab has a counter at the airport.. If you book a cab over the phone with easy cab or other companies then you would be paying less than Rs.25o (add 25% if night charges apply) |

Thanks to all your helpful tips and advice, we had our least-stressful New Delhi train station pick-up ever! We used Easy Cabs and had such a good experience that I can't ever imagine going back to the black, yellow and green machines. The operator was courteous and spoke impeccable English, the pick-up was prompt, and the taxi itself was simple, but clean. And 230 RS from the train station to the domestic airport? What a breath of fresh air!
Two small caveats though: 1) As posted earlier, you really need a mobile phone for the service to work. The driver calls you to determine your exact place and time of pick-up and unless you are sitting next to a telephone, it could get a little complicated. 2) While the Easy Cab operator spoke English, our driver did not (zip, nada!) We got by in Hindi, but it was a little difficult to communicate, especially over the telephone. Our friends, who also took an Easy Cab, encountered the same problem. This is a shame, because otherwise it would be an even bigger goldmine for foreign tourists in Delhi. But all in all, we are converts now in a big way! I'm just kicking myself that I didn't figure all this out earlier... Cheers. |

Great they worked for you! Luck of the draw sometimes, I found Delhi Cabs easier, but i'm sure if Easy Cabs weren't busy at the time I rang I would have had the same experience with them too!
And yes, definitely a mobile is the best isn't it? I like the cab driver rings you for exact location, then to tell you he's there etc. It is a very efficient service. And the cleanliness of the cabs.. wonderful, compared to those clapped out vehicles and filthy seats etc. of the black, green and yellow taxis!

Good to know that IMers are appreciating the experience. You can actually overcome the mobile usage, by standing at a very convenient location and calling the service providers and telling them your location. They will give you drivers mobile number and also notify the driver where you are. And if you has his number, you can ring him up from any paid phone and ask the status. I understand that they might not be very good in English, but it would be same in any other country of the world where English is not a primary language. I am sure in any case it would be more easier for you here that somewhere in China or maybe even in France. Even the yellow green cabs driver would have same level of English when compared to these drivers.. |

traveljunkie - you will be about an hour later by the time you go through customs then out to get your luggage. I suggest you wait at the airport where the conditions are more pleasant than hanging about on Nizamuddin station, then catch your taxi around
4.30a.m. or so. There will be very little traffic I should imagine at that time and I think you would get there in less than an hour. |

Radio Cab at New Delhi RS
If I call for a radio cab to pick me up at New Delhi RS, where is the pick-up point?
I suppose I can specify either Pahar Ganj or Ajmeri Gate but where exactly does the pick-up take place? Do the horde of taxiwallas mind the radio cabs? |

There are specific pick points..you have fix it over the phone wherever you want !! Taxi wallas are not a problem, however cops might be due to parking restrictions in some areas..

The Radio Cabs are excellent. Stress free. Really good and cheap. You can rent for the day and it costs far less then several rickshaws and several taxis.
I used mega cab. 900 rupies for six hours driver for 60km, charged at 15 rupies per km over (60.15=900 so driver waiting is free). |
