I used Easy Cabs last night when i came in late at night and it cost only 350 Rps to South Delhi. They had many cars waiting and the whole experience was pleasant (the driver helped us with our bags).

But I do have to warn people against using them for destinations in the city. Twice I was taken in circles in order for them to rack up extra KM.

Hi Jenny! I got taken in circles by the ordinary meter black and yellow and green cabs one time too - a real pain in the neck that was! I didn't have any troubles with Delhi Cabs.

Great to hear about the rave reviews on dial-a-cab services as I don't trust the usual taxis. I'm arriving at Delhi International early in the morning and intend on taking an easy cab to Himachal Bhawan opposite FICCI Auditorium to catch my bus to Shimla around 4.30am. Can anyone advise the time it would take for me to get there from the airport.

At that time of day with less traffic I think just under the hour - allow an hour in your mind and you should be fine.

From the time you get into the car 45 minutes max....that early in the morning has very very limited traffic.

Thanks for the advice, also does anyone know if there is a bus shelter at Himachal Bhawan near Mandi House and is the place well lit. I'm female on my own catching 4.30am bus so will be dark, any advice would be handy. I could take the bus from Kashmere Gate but I opted from Himachal Bhawan as I felt it would be safer and easier as only one buse leaves from there at that time. Any advice?

Where will you be getting to HB from in Delhi... it would be best if you time it right...get there as close to departure as possible.

The Himachal Bhawan mite be open, in which case you can go and sit down at the reception... if not you can hang around the guard hut at the gate.

There is no shelter etc to the tune of what you are suggesting unfortunately unless somethings come up recently.

Himachal Bhavan area is also known as Mandi House, which is the headqaurters of State run TV and Radio. At times the cabbies show ignorance about Himachal Bhavan or the Sikandra Road but no one misses Mandi House. At Bhawan, there is no shack to wait. The security people don't let the passengers enter the lobby so early in morning. I witnessed an incident when a girl at 4 in the morning was not allowed by the security to enter the lobby. As puchoo said, hang around the guard hut which is off the main street.

Delhi Cabs

Just wanted to post here my recent experience of using Delhi Cabs. I have had no real problems using them twice in the past although they have always been late but I took one today who insisted he had no change for my fare. I perservered and after 20 minutes managed to get a 500rp note changed and give him the exact amount of the fare.

During this 20 minutes I spoke to the Manager who seemed to imply that it was not the driver's fault he had no change. My argument is that some change should be carried by the driver as not everyone has the correct fare and have seen in the past a driver change some money in order to give the passenger change.

Please make sure if using the above cab to get your change. I have decided not to use this company anymore but will try one or two of the other dial-a-cabs on the market.

Annoying and frustrating I know, Indianworker - lack of change is a common thing all the time here. But it doesn't only happen in Indian taxis - in the Blue Mountains out of Sydney, Oz, all the cabs carry a sign saying they will not change large demonination notes and to please have the correct money ready. I've been caught out a few times with this back there.

Not having the right change is never the fault of the vendor...or atleast you cannot question his/her service for the same..
