Steve, I did a post about the comparative prices of EasyCabs and the prepaid taxis to Paharganj (right next to New Delhi station) in this thread:
Prepaid cab from IGI Airport, post no.116.

I think night rates end at 5am, so it would be cheaper after that time - maybe someone could confirm?

Thanks for your info. But have you used these services within Delhi city? I have tried calling them from New Friends colony and from Khel Gaon many times. All the times I have been told there are no cabs available. I once saw a cab standing in front of my house and asked him if he wld take me from NFC to Habitat Center. The answer was...Its a very short distance. Unfortunately I have had bad experience with them so far.

Do they have a special lingo to which they respond?-

Please see my post from 23 december.
It's advised that you call 2 hours in advance to optimize the chance a taxi will be available (minimum 30 minutes).

That number could not be right, Delhi numbers are all eight figures. EasyCabs number is 43434343.

Thanks Haylo for correcting his post! I have just come back from checking the number which is on First Page of this thread in OP - in fact all numbers for all Radio Cab companies are there. I thought there was something wrong with it!

Just a bit of a warning to watch out when taking the radio cabs. They may be nice and clean but that doesn't mean the drivers won't still try to rip you off...

This morning I took one to work and the driver shorted me 100Rs and claimed it was for a waiting fee. Actually he had waited only 7min so I shouldn't have had to pay a waiting fee, as they will wait up to 15min for free. But he was very persistent so I had to call up Easy Cabs to complain. Ten minutes of me and the driver taking turns explaining our sides of the story to the Easy Cabs people followed. The driver kept lying and telling them he had waited for 20min. Unbelievable. But thankfully in the end he gave me my 100Rs back.. then asked if I could please give him 50Rs. I said no.

This isn't to say don't take Easy Cabs... but just be careful to pay attention about the charges. Unfortunately some of us passengers can be mistaken for walking sacks of money by some of the drivers.

Is that cab service run by women for women now going? I caught a fleeting glimpse of something like this on NDTV the other night, but I wasn't sure if it was Delhi or Mumbai.

Yes ! After Mumbai, our Delhi has also get a women only cab service. The service named "For She" has been flagged-off by the country's first woman IPS officer Kiran Bedi.

The services will be available to Women (solo or with family) but not to man/men.

And that's reminded me - yes, it was Kiran Bedi I saw doing the flagging off. I wonder if we can get a name and telephone no. for this thread? Any obliging Delhi members who might be able to ferret it out, please?

Thanks for your post, Delhiwala.

Does this service run at night from the airport? And has anyone used this service? I am very interested in knowing any/all experiences. This seems like the best thing to happen to Delhi for women. Three cheers for Kiran Bedi!!!!
