Quick question

Sorry if theres already info on this, I browsed and didnt find anything.
Im going to Delhi in exactly 2 weeks and havnt yet booked a hotel, and it just occurred to me this could be very stupid.
Is it very touristy at the moment?
I'll be staying somewhere cheap in Paharganj, do you think it's all already full/booked up?
Or would it be possile to just show up and get a room?

Many thanks!!

you should find a room ok if you just turn up as there's many hotels there, but maybe not your first choice - Is it your first night in India? it's always more relaxing to have one ready booked plus you can arrange for them to pick you up from the airport - especially if arriving late at night.

ah, best to book ahead then!
you can swap for a different/cheaper room once you've got your bearings
have a great time

definatley book ahead, try the Royal Guest house in PaHAR gANJ, I dont have any ties to it and its the only one I know in the area but its clean safe and the rooms are good, I have posted a recommendation in the hotel listings. Make sure you ask for a pick up at the airport

Not at all. Just find the pre-paid taxi stand at the airport where you need to pay the correct fare in advance and give the coupon to the driver after you reach your intended destination. It will save you money as compared to a hotel taxi pick up arrangement.

As you get into Delhi at 11am I think it will be fine to get a pre paid taxi at the airport. I paid 160 rupees for a pre-paid and 650 for pick-up a big difference.
