I think the hotel will charge you a round trip fare as they will say their driver had to do a round trip. From the prepaid stand in the airport it is at least half that.

Greetings, Mio
when i was there last autumn, the pre-paid price was around 230rs with an additional 40rs or so at night (after 11pm i think).
The anoop are quoting you more as they will send a driver to personally meet you at the gate. therefore you are paying for his entry to the arrivals lounge and his time waiting.

The advantages are that it is very straightforward and there is no chance of being scammed (a fairly common experience for 1st time travellers.) On the basis of this, i would personally recommend the extra 150rs ($3)...could save you a lot of hassle.

Thanks kidsan!

I've been to India before, so I'll take my chances and go for a pre-paid taxi.

great, just watch out for the so-called 'pre-pay' scammers just outside arrivals. There is an official counter just as you leave the arrivals terminal on your right...good luck k

PRE-PAID on international airport is just outside the waiting lobby gate. As soon as you get out-look for YELLOE COLORED notice and this is where youwill find genuine PRE-PAID TAXI and you can get one.

DOMESTIC TERMINAL: They have 2 booking counters- the right one-near to EXIT gate is much costlier than otherone. I once paid 650 INR for Paharganj for a A/C car which never turn ON the A/C

it should not be more than 250-300 INR for non A/C car. Usually INDICA or MARUTI VAN.

Prepaid cab from Airport (International Arrival)

Anybody knows where is the office for normal prepaid cabs to go to the city? It seems that there are also some stands for expensive tourist vehicles, so how to distinguish them?

you wont need to find it...you will notice it automatically...

Secondly I will advice against using the prepaid cabs..

in delhi, new cab services have started which comes when you call them..they are more comfortable and reliable..and would cost you almost the same as a prepaid one..

you can try call 1929 OR 43434343 from any phone at the airport..

This is not as helpful as I thought it would be, but their site: http://www.delhiairport.com/php/show...6&linkid= 433 just has this:

Transfer from the Airport: Taxis, buses and autorikshaws are available at the airport to take you to town. Bus charges are fixed. A prepaid taxi service facility is available for all passengers. Contact the Pre-Paid Taxi booth at the arrival building.

the myth/legend far outweighs the hassle. first/second time i went to india i enterd by pakistan and nepal so i diddnt know. there was much info put up here about help/horrors.

you want the police taxi stand. its a no brainer. outside to your right and have a look for posted prices and at bottome - it says police. its about 230??? to pahargangh.

the airport is tiny. i was really surprised.

i doubt seriously you could call a cab and they would allow it inside. there is usually mafia controlling this at most airports. youd need to meet outside

The radio cabs are reliable & comfortable but they charge much more than the yellow black cabs. Go to the Govt./Police operated booth & buy a pre-paid coupon, no hassle at all.

You will have to wait till the cab arrives. My guess is atleast half an hour.

they are available in 5-10 minutes in local delhi...
at airports its 2-5 minutes to the max..

There is no Mafia controlling pre-paid taxis...they are conrolled by the police..

There is huge problem that tourists face with normal cab drivers..as they are not educated and ready to fleece you once they are outside the airport..

This is something that i have heard regularly from foreigners about the scams and all that there yellow blck taxi people run..and also they would charge extra for luggage..

Where as the Cabs on call are have literate drivers, who are reporting to some responsible people in a registered company. you get an air conditoned cab, and wont hassle you..wherever you want to go..as they run by meter that is for Rs.15 per km..
