Pre-Paid Taxi/Auto at Nizamuddin Rail Station

Sorry to say that the pre-paid booth is a joke. They are ripping people off. I paid 65 rupees from home to the station by the meter. That too with the new rates. Pre-paid attempted to charge me 108 rupees going back home. When i raised hell, the man inside the booth shoved a note book on my face with handwritten rates. I walked over to another traffic police and reported this. He said "what can i do sir, it is the rate government want". I said that's not true and asked him to check his own department's website with the new rates, at which he gave me a blank stare.
I walked over to the main road (just a few yards) and took an auto home with the meter on. Charge? 65.80 rupees.

It is really ridiculous.
I think this pre paid booths are run by some taxi unions.
They are just interested about their commissions and not at all serious about the passengers.
Government must be more strict about this matter.

At least you got a Prepaid Taxi Counter at Nizamuddin,
In May this year I wasted about 45 Minutes searching for Prepaid Taxi Counter at New Delhi Railway Station (Ajmeri Gate side), at last I asked a Polcewallah, he told me that there is no Prepaid Taxi Counter here. As I remember previuosly there was a Prepaid Taxi Counter at New Delhi Railway station.

You were conned ! There is certainly a booth at both sides of NDLS. Its about 50 metres away from the entrance to Metro station on the Ajmeri Gate side and close to the car parking entrance on the Paharganj side

Just keep asking until there is some consistency in the answers you get. Also, stay informed about the place you are travelling to. To that effect, Indiamike is one great site!
