pls help with wedding shopping/makeup.

i am a desi who has been living in USA for a while now. We did court marriage in US but my inlaws wants to do a grand wedding reception sort of thing for us when we visit them in december.
I need help shopping for a non bridal but nice lehnga set in and around gurgaon. i am afraid i'll only have a few days to shop and then getting it fitted. If i buy a stiched lehnga, i am sure it won't fit me and i just can't stand ill fitted clothes. so is there a tailor place that i got to? what are my choice when it come to lehngas?
The reception itself is in alwar rajasthan. i have zero hopes of finding a good makeup artist there. i do not want a white foundation, red lip, typical indian bridal look. i want a 70's big hair, smoky eye thing. is there a place where i can take a picture of the look i want and they can do it?
thanks

Sorry I can't help with the make up, but I'm sure you'll find a good lehnga at CTC which in one of the malls. I lost the name but it is next to Shara Mall and this mall has Spensers in this mall. I'll update you as soon as I can.
BTW, for my wife the lehnga was made to order in Jaipur 30days in advance and it weighed 10Kgs.

MGF Mega City mall...a good recommendation by Vinay.

My wife's lehnga weighed closer to 20 kgs...which she bore lightly on her then slim and trim 90 kg frame. I, of course, in traditional Bong style wore my dhoti and what not with, what my Punju relatives to be described as the donkey cap, nestled on my head...the only concession to modern times was the bermudas I wore underneath the dhoti as I was worried about the same slipping off (the dhoti that is, not the bermudas).

Are you sure you mean 90kg? I mean... got to be careful what I say here... I only weigh 75kg (165lbs) and I'm a 6-foot bloke. I'm not suggesting that your wife wasn't slim & trim; just that she probably didn't weigh 90kg. I'll stop digging now.

Well ok I exaggerated - she was more like 80 kgs back then...and she's 5'6". Currently, she is a healthy 100 kgs plus I suspect (she never tells me !) - suffice it is to say that I cannot carry her in my arms....never could in fact come to think of it.

Yeah but if my wife reads these posts of mine, I shall be digging my own grave - that's because she will be directing me to do so as she would not be willing to make the effort.

No matter...I Love Her !

I don't know how many days you have before the wedding, but the stitching of a lehenga usually takes at least a few days. Aren't there any relatives who can recommend a tailor? If they know somebody he or she might be able to do it quicker as a special service. But you will need one fitting anyway, so a few days is essential.

And lehenga's come in all sorts and colours, so I am sure you can find something not bridal, but still very beautiful.

And sorry, can't help you with the make-up either....

rebellious - enjoy the ceremony! Why not do your own make-up and then you won't get some over-the-top job which you want to take off as soon as it's finished. Do some practising at home with your girlfriends before you come. You have nearly 6 months to get it right! As for the hair - if you want someone else to do it here, get it done the way you want where you are, take a photo, and use that. The other option is once you reach Gurgaon, ask the rels to help you with a good hairdresser. Locals will know where to go.

Mod Note: I have moved your thread into Delhi forum.
