Paharganj Hotel Star paradise / Hotel Smyleinn / Hotel Rak intrnl which is good??

I will be in Delhi in mid of June 2007 for a week time. What will be weather in the month of June at Delhi?

I am visiting with my family , parents and kids four adults and 2kids of 5years age.

I have booked in a Family Air conditioned room (Actually a airconditioned double room with twin double beds) at Hotel Star Paradise in Paharganj area.

How is Hotel Star Paradise? I am not looking for luxury. As we would be most of the time out side the hotel visiting places. Expecting basic amenities Just to sleep weel at nights and reasonable bathroom.

Any idea about Hotel Smyle Inn and Hotel Rak international? in paharganj area?

I found the Star paradise is prompt and pretty fast in responding to the queries I raised at him. I have asked for the airconditioned rooms with natural light and window for which Hotel Star Paradise has agreed.

Can I zero in on Hotel Star Paradise? Am I doing right choice??

Any suggestions? recomendations??

Thanks

I stayed in Star Paradise in december 2005 and found their rooms very cramped and not really clean. The bathroom was so small that you had to sit on the toilet to take a shower (no hot water available). Maybe the luxury rooms are better ? In any case the rooms have no direct daylight : the windows give on the hall, that receives only a small amount of daylight by the opening to the rooftop. I checked in at 2.30 AM after a long flight from Europe, and was woken up at 6.30 AM by someone from the hotelstaff to ask if I had laundry to wash; at 7.30 AM the guys from the rooftoprestaurant came to take my orders for the eveningmeal : they said it was compulsory to eat in the restaurant when you stayed at the hotel. The restaurant is rather mediocre and the waiters never have change, not even on a 100 rupee bill. The hotel is also very noisy. The only good thing I can say on this hotel is that you can rely on theit airport pickup service.

I came back to Delhi 3 months later and had made an emailreservation at Smileys : their rooms(bathroom attached) are very small and "cleanish" and the windows give on a very small alley, so you have not much daylight either. The biggest problem was that their emailreply quoted a price of 220 rps, and that on arrival they doubled the price (though I had a printout of the mail).
So on my next trip to India (september) I'll try another hotel : some people recommended the hotels of Anupam Hoteliers, also on Paharganj : check their website : http://www.anupamhoteliersltd.com/index.htm

Weather will be very hot, but the most annoying thing will be the pollution, especially during powercuts, when all the shops and hotels will start their generators.

well i stayed in Star paradise 2 years ago

the room was pretty clean , the bathroom was a regular one {meaning not small as our friend mentions above} and the window was overlooking the terraces of the buildings opposite my window, there was light indeed.I guess it was another kind of the room that is being mentioned above-i just didn`t like the behaviour of the owner , very arrogant and not helpful at all.

In Smyle Inn i had a clean room with the same bathroom as Star Paradise but no view at all{I prefer it due to the owners behaviour}, and it is cheaper

Hello

I stayed in the Hotel Star Paradise in Feb of this year and would not advise it. I also booked online and found them very helpful - especially as they arranged airport pickup - however my experiences at the hotel were quite different.

Although we had previously requested a room with an outside window we were given one that had a window opening out on to the generator shaft. We asked to move rooms to one with an outside window, which it did have, however was inline with the ventelation from the kitchen. This room was okay, the bathroom was actually very large and comfotable but the room was very noisy from street noise outside and the owners watching TV into the small hours.

We did not find the staff very friendly and felt quite pressured to take one of their tours. As said above the only plus was the airport pickup.

On my second visit to Delhi I stayed in Ringos near Connaught Place. the rooms were very clean and large with two windows, however the bathrooms were quite small. It was alot quiter than Hotel Star Paradise, in a much nicer area and cheaper at RS400 per night.

I brought a group of 10 people to India last year, and we stayed at Smyle Inn. I may have written a review in the hotel section of this forum. Airport pick up was prompt, and the staff seemed happy to have our business. Rooms were typical for Paharganj - small and funky. The hotel is towards the end of he main bazaar, very close to the railway station. For a reliable pick-up and first night, I would recommend them.

I also really like Anoop (again, see hotel reviews), but have never been able to successfully arrange anything via email. They take forever to respond, and then never really answer questions etc. What we did was stay at Smyle, then walk down to Anoop's to make reservations for when we arrived back in Delhi. Anoop also has a great rooftop restaurant.

Don't know about Star Paradise but Smyle Inn is almost next to New Delhi train station. Too bad that our train left from the Old Delhi train station. (Well, at least we figured it out before the train left.) I stayed in Smyle Inn in Dec 2004.

Hello

I was actually thinking about this and it might not be the best for a family. Although when I stayed it was very quiet and all other guests were very considerate I suppose you could say that it is aimed at more "backpacker" types than families

My suggestion is Cottage Yes Please. It's a block or two Northwest of the real hustle and bustle of Paharganj(about three blocks from Star Paradise), but still not very far from ND Railway Station. The three rooms I've had there were all spotless and the staff was very attentive but not pushy in the least. Their website could be better, but it gives an honest picture of what their rooms do look like. One bonus is it's directly across the street from Malhotra Restaurant, the best in Paharganj.
