One day Dehli!!??

We are arriving in Dehli from Dubai in the afternoon of 21st dec....heading off to Varanasi from there...have either the option of catching the train the same day ie only having a few hours in Dehli (so giving it a skip in total) OR staying the night and leaving the following day to Varanasi...

Am thinking that by trying to see Dehli in only one day is fruitless and should rather just catch the train to Varanasi on the same day??

Any thoughts?

If this is your only time in Delhi you should at least see the Red Fort / Jama Masjid, India Gate / Rashtrapati Bhavan area (intersting to walk around at night among picnicking families) and possibly Connaught Place... Trip to India isn't really complete without those.

You have to go to Delhi. It is the capital city of the country and you just can't miss it. If you were there for one day only, I would go to the Red Fort and then onto India Gate. I would have dinner in a nice restaurant and go to see India Gate after dinner. I think it will enable you to get a good feel of India. If you have been to Delhi before then I would skip it and head straight to Varanasi.

Delhi should not be missed !! Its home 3 world heritage sites !! and numerous other sites which are not on World Heritage list, but are equally wonderful.
