Old Delhi walking tour..

Hello all, this is my first post in this forum, so be kind!
I am originally from Delhi, moved to the US about 10 years ago. I will be visiting Delhi in about a week.
I have picked up photography as a hobby in the last few years. I would like to walk around Old Delhi, mainly to take pics of the old buildings and havelis (or whats left of them). Taking pics of beggars and stuff like that is not my cup of tea.
I was talking to my brother who still lives there. He was telling me to be cautious as Delhi has changed with more random acts of violence and that I shouldnt go alone with an expensive camera (I have a big SLR with lenses).
I had gone to Old Delhi a few times while in college, specially enjoyed going behind Jama Masjid and eating great kababs from the thelas, and going to Karims and Jawahar. I havent gone into all the small galis though.
So what do you think, any suggestions?
Thanks.
Anil.

I dont think there should be any problem, but yes to be careful is always good, better take your brother with you or someone who is more familiar to you. so that he can guide you where to step in or not..

Cautious, yes. No need to be paranoid, though

I suggest take your brother with you the first couple of times, till you feel comfortable. And enjoy yourself.

I walk the lanes and bylanes of old Delhi on a regular basis both during the day and night and have been eating at Karim's for close to 4 decades. I have never felt unsafe here. But that doesn't mean one shouldn't be careful. There are plenty of old buildings and havelis which are wonderful photo ops. Seek out the tomb of Razia Sultan.
