Old Dehli station to NZM station in 45 min?

Hello,

Is it possible to get from Old Dehli station to NZM station at 6.30 am within 45mins?

We are gettin a train from Kalka to old Dehli station then need to get to NZM station to catch a train to Agra. Old Dehli and NZM look pretty close on the map but u never know...

(wont b surprised if no one answers - never done one of these forum things before!hehehe)

It can be easily done in 45 minutes..but I won't recommend it...

The train by which you will be reaching Delhi might get delayed due to number of factors, especially in winters...

Agree with shashank.

If its 45 mins between train timings, you also have to keep in mind at least ten minutes total lost to exit one station and enter another.. 5 mins minimum at each end, more if you are unfamiliar with the layout of the stations or Indian train travel.

Simply not possible in my opinion.
1. Kalka mail is usually delayed, specially in winter.
2. It takes 15 minutes minimum to exit the station as the platform on which kalka mail comes is quite far from the exit.
3. You will be swarmed with auto & taxi drivers the moment you step out. It will definitely take you 10 minutes minimum to hire one and get in.

People like me who are used to Indian stations, find it hard to get in and out in 10-15 minutes..you have to literally run to cross the station in 10 minutes...

So would you suggest it is better to catch a bus or something to Agra? Or maybe stay in Dehli an extra day? Also, if we were to get a taxi or jeep to Agra do u know how much about this would cost (there are 5 people travelling together)?

There are frequent bus service to Agra.
Assuming that you are returning from Shimla you can start early from Shimla and take the Shatabdi Exp. from Kalka at 5:30 PM. You will reach Delhi at 9:45 PM. Sleep the night in Delhi and catch the early morning train to Agra next day.
How many of you are travelling together? For one person hiring a cab may not be economical.

they are 5 of them..I guess a cab would work good for them as it will help a lot in local touring as well..

Not possible.Even if train arrives at the right time its tough to board another train from Nizamuddin within 45 minutes.Last time when I went to Agra(August 2006)by Tata Indica,we paid 2200Rs for delhi -agra -delhi.We also went to Mathura Vrindavan.

There are plenty of train between Delhi and Agra, at all hours of the day.

Why not book train 2618 (MNGLA LKSDP EXP), which leaves H Nizamuddin at 09:20 and arrives in Agra Cantt at 12:20 . That'll give you time for breakfast in Delhi before you leave.
