north to south or vice versa

hi everyone.
i'm planning on leaving for india start of feb and fly to delhi then heading down to mumbai via goa over a couple of months. But have now been thinking since reading some posts that weather may be better suited to starting in south and heading north . is that right?
also my itinary is as detailed as i'vce written above (delhi, goa and mumbai) so any must see places to stop off at woul db esuggested. am of course looking at destinations forums and checking out my lonely planet for some ideas.
thanks
xx

Yes, you'd be better off landing at Mumbai and exiting from Delhi.

In the two months at your disposal you may cover:

Mumbai - 4 days.
Goa - 15 days.
Rajasthan - 15 days.
Delhi - 4 days
Agra - 2 days
Varanasi - 3 days
Lucknow - 3 days
The balance days you may spend in the hills - Uttaranchal or Himachal Pradesh. From Lucknow, Uttaranchal will be more convenient than Himachal.
