Nizanmuddin accomadation

Hi
Will be arriving Delhi from Srinagar (22/10/07- 14.00) as we have 3.5 hours to get from airport to Nizanmuddin railway station and opinions varied from plenty of time to well.... so am thinking if we miss connection and want to get a train next morning from there is there any accomadtion reasonbly priced (300-500 Rps) and rooms are O.K. in the area of railway station.

Well, you might make the connection but it's tight considering flights might be late etc.

You could stay at Wongdhen House in Majnu Ka Tilla, bout 20 minutes rickshaw to Nizamuddin. It's a Tibetan colony, good guest house, good food and in your price bracket. You can book online. We use them all the time. Google Wongdhen House for latest email address.

20 mins? more like 40 if the traffic's ok. they are at least 15 km from each other, in opposite directions from CP. there are one or two nice 2,000rs or so B&Bs in Nizamuddin East, or else a bunch of dingy 300rs flophouses in Nizamuddin West's market.

Were thinking of staying there when we arrive in Delhi (8th Oct.) staying there for 2 days, so..... how much time to allow to get to domestic airport for Air Deccan flight to Srinagar, checkin at 06.30 morning.
or just opt for the Main Bazzar area?

Early morning domestic airport will take half an hour to 35 mins from Nizamuddin in a taxi.

Majnu ka tilla is quite far away from Nizamuddin. There are midlevel as well as budget accomodation near Nizamuddin station.

I like the Likir House in Lajpat Nagar II (29832141). It is a little pricier than your stated budget (700 RS for a single, 1000 RS for a double) but it is quiet, clean, friendly, and about 10 minutes from Nizamuddin station by taxi.

Likir House is great - but you would need to book ahead, which kind of defeats the purpose because if your timings all go o.k. and there is a strong possibility they might, then you have the bother of cancelling. Then again, ring on the day if necessary and you might have luck with a room! I have always booked and a few times they have been booked out with groups. i also tried to find some cheaper accommodation in Nizamuddin, all that was suggested were in the pricey bracket. I will watch this thread and see if anything comes up! Likir House is the only one I found cheaper than previous suggestions, and closeish to the area.

The distance from Airport to Nizamuddin Railway Station is around 13 kms, and it will take around 40 minutes to reach. Moreover, there is a place near Nizamuddin Railway Station, called Nizmuddin Basti, in the vicinity of Nizamudddin Dargah. You will get the accommodation well within your budget as there are some small guest
houses are available.

That sounds good - are they neat and clean? Have you stayed there Rakesh and can you recommend any in particular? Does one need to book ahead?
