Hi all
I wish to visit the dargah on a thursday and listen to the Sufi Qawaalis. It will be me and my mom, may a be stupid question - is it safe for women to visit the dargah. Any thing we should be careful about in terms of behaviour and dressing. |

Dont think there is much of an issue. Its quite safe. Women aren't allowed to go inside the inner sanctum of the dargah but can pray in the main courtyard.

I (female) went there alone on an evening-not Thursday, but there was Qawwali. Felt a bit strange walking through the narrow lanes but it was fine, and I was made to feel welcome. You will have to trust one of the shops outside with your footwear. And I remember covering my head with the dupatta, I think most women there had their heads covered. You may be asked to make a contribution - buy some rose petals, or a sheet to cover the grave.
I was stared at quite a lot, but at no point felt threatened. |
