2311 Howrah Delhi Kalka Mail departs from Old Delhi Railway Station at 9:40 pm.
Do not panic, You have enough time to get to Old Delhi station as long as your train isnt too late. You can take an auto and it would not take more than 45-50 minutes. |

We travelled from Nizamuddin to Old Delhi in August to catch the Kalka Mail. I don't think it matters where you get out of Nizamuddin, there were taxis and autos everywhere. We caught a taxi to Old Delhi (there were 6 of us plus luggage) - I can't remember the exact cost but it wasn't more than 100 or 150 rupees I don't think .
The one thing I would say is that at that time of day (we arrived at Old Delhi about an hour before the train) - the roads were VERY busy - it took at least an hour to transfer, possibly a little longer. There is no Metro anywhere near Nizamuddin. Hope this helps Catherine |

Are there no regular (city) trains running between Nizamuddin and Old Delhi station? I thought most of Delhi's stations were connected that way.

Why not stay on the Golden Temple Mail till it arrives at New Delhi station at 19:00, the metro is really easy to use and it's only a 5 or 6 minute trip to get to Old Delhi station.

If you have don't have handy lauguage esp. without the wheels, I would strictly advise you to use a pre-paid auto both from Nizamuddin to reach old delhi station. Metro Option: Since its sunday, its not much of a problem boarding the metro. The nearest metro station from Nizammudin is Pragati Maidan. Reaching this metro station costs Rs 35 in a prepaid auto. From Pragati Maidan you change your next Metro at Rajiv Chowk. From Rajiv Chowk Metro Station you change over the platform as well as the floor level all on your toes, so you would have to carry all your laguage & board another metro that runs towards Chandni Chowk. On this metro route get down at old delhi station stop. Remember, from here you will have to walk a lot & a lot & a lot to get till you come out of the metro station & again walk till you reach your normal railway platform of Delhi Station. Be prepared for all the lifting of laguage as well as walking.

I would strongly suggest you to go directly to Old Delhi by an auto or Taxi. Auto's are usually faster and cheaper, They do drive like maniacs though but are reliable.
You'll have to first take an auto to the Metro station and then change trains in between to reach Old Delhi. Although its Sunday, Old Delhi Rlwy Stations' Metro Stop is called 'Chandni Chowk Station' and its always crowded. Sunday or No Sunday. You and your luggage will be frisked at each metro station and I frankly dont see much time saved rather a lot of hassle. If I were you, I would go straight to Old Delhi.
