Nice place near delhi?

Hi, I have three days in Delhi before I have to attend a thouroghly tedious meeting at the British Commission. Can anyone suggest somewhere calm an pleasant to hang out, in easy distance of Delhi? I live very rurally here in the UK and find Delhi too crowded and noisey to relax in, when having just arrived in India.

Many thanks

Malcolm

How much money do you want to spend?

Neemrana and Kesroli spring immediately to mind.

Bharatpur/Ranthambhore for wildlife.

Lancedowne .. perfect nearest hill station, Non Commercialise. 225 KMs from Delhi, beautiful road. 4 hours -relaxed drive.
Follow Delhi> Meerut Cantt > bijnor >Najibabad > Kotdwar > Lancdowne.
Start at 4 in the morning to enjoy the beauty on the way.. you will love it.

Cheers!

Tough old life, eh?

As well as knowing your budget, what time of year will it be and how much time do you want to spend travelling?

For what it's worth, not all Delhi is like that. My boyfriend has been posted Delhi, and where he lives in Vasant Vihar is very quiet with nice wide streets.

It's so recent a move, neither of us have had chance to venture further afield, but I'm sure others will be along to suggest places you could go.
