New Year's Eve 2009/2010 in Delhi - Which bar, discoteque or hotel can you recommend?

Hi all of you,

I travel in December 2009 to Delhi and my return flight date to Germany will be the 1st of January 2010 - 10 a.m. from International Airport. So I don't want to sleep the night before and want to go by taxi directly to the airport in the morning of 1st January. I would like to spend the whole new year's Eve in a discotheque, bar or so on, where can I dance and celebrate this night together with other nice Indian people and people from all over the world? Do you have an idea and is it possible to contact this place now before in order to book a ticket by email?

I would be very pleased to receive an answer and proposal from somebody. Thank you.

Regards
Kamala

Well, there are loads of bars and discs that would have something of the other that evening. You have to wait till 15th December (at least) to find out what is happening where.

Not sure if these are the venues you're interested in, but the 5-star hotels (Taj, Sheraton, Imperial, Oberoi, etc) will have activities, and you can watch their websites for info.

In which boards, newspapers, hoardings I have to look for the celebrations? I have to check them, when I am in India, although I would like to book it in advance from here. But surely you are right and I have to wait, which is not easy for me. I don't give up to get some information about locations
Thanks.

I guess TimeOut Delhi would make for a good start; their paper edition should be readily available at newspaper sellers, for some Rs. 45 or so. I know their Mumbai edition is very good. http://www.timeoutdelhi.net/.

Keep an eye also on http://delhi.burrp.com/. And then the local papers, indeed, but I don't know which are best for Delhi; others here will.

A few things: Those high-end parties will, as far as I know, be both very expensive and start to book out as soon as they're announced; and single men (or groups of those) may find themselves refused, or pay a hefty premium. I.e., you often need a female chaperone (I guess it's to avoid an overdose of testosterone-filled lads around. Or "stags," as I think they're known in India.)

There are lot of websites that track these events, Delhievents.com, buzzintown.com, events.burrp.com etc.
