jiggyjackson - I don't know about dinner prices but I'm sure it would be much more than 1000 rupees for 2. The High Tea (in afternoon) is 600 or 650 rupees per person (can't quite remember) and this is for sandwiches, biscuits and small cakes.
Whenever I've been with friends we just have a coffee or tea (that is around 120 rupees p.p. including a couple of biscuits) and maybe share a plate of extra biscuits. Some of the higher priced restaurants in Delhi for food only would work out around 700 -800 rupees p.p. for dinner - mains and dessert, to give you some idea. Jyotiji - Diva has been recommended by you and others outside of IM too - I really must try it, perhaps next time I'm in Delhi!

I have tried Bukhara, Dum Pukht and Spice Route. Unless until you and your date both like heavy N Indian/NW frontier kind of food I would avoid them. Spice Route is good and the Imperial itself is romantic. Let me add to the confusion by suggestion Blue Elephant at the Intercon Barakhamba.

Diva is run by Ritu Dalmia, a passionate food lover. She has travelled extensively in Italy, visiting Tuscan villages in quest of authentic Italian food.
Every thing including the sinful desserts are simply excellent. The sauces are subtly flavoured with real truffles. The excellent crispy bread dipped in extra virgin olive oil with a blob of vinegar is an excellent way to start a meal. This lady stocks wonderful Italian wines and minimum mark up on the price, many of us are ever thankful to her for this. Although I don't eat Pizzas here but I know that these are baked in a wood fired oven. Friends who eat Pizzas here tell me that it is exactly like the ones you eat in Naples. You can manage to have a meal here sans wine for about Rs.1000/-+ |
