Need some help on planning Agra and Delhi visit

Hi All,

I am planning to vist Delhi for couple of days. I would be coming from Chennai and I am planning to get down at Agra first. I am taking TN Express and it reaches Agra around 3:30 AM. Now I need you guys help on details like how long is it from the Agra station to Taj Mahal? What should I take (Auto..etc) to reach Taj Mahal? I am not planning to take any Hotel or stay in Agra. After visiting Taj Mahal i would like to know where am i supposed to catch bus/train to reach Delhi? Is it the right time to get down at Agra..when will they Open for visitors?

If i take bus where will i reach in Delhi and how should i go to Paharganj from the bus station? How far is it?

Last time when i visited this place i have stayed at Hotel Yuvaraj...but this hotel doesn't have 24 hours check in/chcek out faclity...can anyone suggest me some such hotel which has 24 hours check in and check out facility near to Yuvaraj...because this is one place i know little well....


On the second day one important work i have is to receive my Mom from the Internation Airport around 8:30 PM. In the morning I would like to vist limited place like Connaught Place (i have visited this last time). Can anyone tell me the metro station name in Connaught Place...i forgot the name. And also can you people tell me which station should i get down from Connaught Place metro station to visit India Gate?
And from here i am sure about the near by places to visit and also please remember that i have to reach internation airport before 8 PM. So please suggest me some places and also please tell me the time it takes to reach Internation Airport from the places you suggest...

When you are at CP, stop at the airport bus terminal in the middle of the inner circle/park and find out what time you should take the bus to meet your mother's plane.

Welcome to India Mike, Ven. A lot of questions and I hope all answers will be coming for you! Some I can answer - the Metro in CP is called Rajiv Chowk. To go to India Gate you can go onto Mandi Chowk and walk straight down Copernicus Marg. I think it's probably just as easy, although more expensive,to take an auto rickshaw direct there. An auto should only be 20rupees I think. The metro around 7-8rupees per person.
Quite a no. of hotels are mentioned on this Forum in Paharganj. I suggest you look at the hotel listings (click on Hotels on red bar at top of page)and also do a search amongst the threads by using the Search facility in top right hand corner. I think many will have 24 hour check-in.
3.30a.m. is too early to visit the Taj except from the outside - I think there will be retiring rooms at the railway station where you may wait until a better hour to start your adventures in Agra. Not sure opening hours, but most monuments generally open at 10 a.m.
Re bus/train from Agra - check out train timings in the evening - maybe something fits there for you.

When you get to the bus terminal in Delhi, you better go to Pahar Ganj by metro. I don't remember the names of metro stations but it's easy to find out.

Depends on which side of Paharganj you are on - near New Delhi railway station you would go to New Delhi Metro station - on the other side you would go to Ramakrishna Ashram Marg.
