My flight from BKK will land at 10PM and I take train at 7:40AM in the morning. I don't want to check in hotel.

Is there retiring room at NDLS station?

Kindly advise

Retiring rooms at places like Delhi are always booked by railway employees and almost never available to tourists.

I have stayed in retiring rooms in new delhi railway station twice. Once I got a bed in a dormitory, and another time a single room. Ordinary people do get rooms, but there is a rush in the morning when trains arrive. Since you will be coming at night, there is also a chance to get a room, as many people do take evening trains out.
Please carry xerox of identity proof, as this is collected by the clerk at the counter.

At night time it's very difficult to get a room there. Anyway do try and post your experience here.

Be prepared to use a hotel in Paharganj, right next to the station in case you have no luck with a retiring room.

I've never tried at New Delhi, but have tried about 20 times to get retiring rooms at various stations, normally in the morning, and I've never got one, not even once.

:)

I used to have chance to use retiring room at Old Delhi Station.

Plenty of seats. And quite safe.

Anyway, April trip is my 3rd time visiting India

Ive used retiring rooms at Old Delhi and New Delhi (pre refurb) as well. No problems either time. Just chill man. But yeah - if you want total spic span - go to a hotel

Worst case - keep IM recommendations of hotels in Paharganj handy.

Seats ...You are referring to the Waiting rooms and not the retiring rooms. However that said NDLS is one of the worst stations in terms of ambience in and around station premises.

Nareeratt, this one is for you

There's a good budget hotel, next to the station, called Ginger hotel. You can also book it online. A night's stay should not cost you more than $20-30 USD (Rs 1000-1500). This hotel is on the Ajmeri Gate side; right in the station complex. You can literally walk into the station at 7.15 am.

Here's another tip. You can take a Metro, the Airport Express Line, from the airport to New Delhi Station, where it culminates. Ginger Hotel is less than 100 yards from the Airport Line metro station. This is your best bet.

There are cheaper hotels available on the Paharganj side (the second gate, facing West) but they are small and on cramped streets, which may not be of your liking and avoidable after a long flight. You will be better off catching some sleep.

They are better identified as gate facing Ajmeri Gate or Paharganj. It's better if you tell us where do you have to go on reaching Delhi, and we can guide you accordingly. If you have to go to East, South or North Delhi, Ajmeri Gate would suit you the best. The Metro Station as well as the bus terminal is on this side. This gate is also more spacious if you are calling a car or cab to pick you up. The best way to figure it out is get over a foot over bridge and ask a coolie or a local, which way is Ajmeri Gate, and they will be happy to guide you.

Retiring rooms can NOT be booked Online. You have to be at the station for it.

Had heard of Online booking for the one at CSTM, but no experience of it or even if its is currently allowed.
