music instrument shop in Delhi? looking for a sitara

i'm looking for a sitara. i'll be landing in Delhi and travelling onwards.

does anyone know of a good music instrument shop or manufacturer?

any recommendations of makes to look for or avoid?

what to expect to pay?

...even general buying tips for sitaras are welcome here as i'm a first time player used to playing guitar.

recommendations on places outside of delhi are also welcome.

Yes. Goto Darya Ganj, it is near Chandi Chowk and the Red Fort. It is a bit of a long street, but for about 2 blocks of it there is nothing but music stores. i would say there are about 15 in a row. Go there and get some prices and compare shop to shop and let them know about your previous offer. just go back and forth and tell them "they offerd me ___ ruppes next door" and they will go lower. you are sure to get a reasnable price. you can probably even get a lesson or two. Remember Darya Ganj in Old Delhi.

You could try Riki Ram in Delhi, he's not that cheap but supposedly quite good. I can't remember the address off the top of my head but you'll find it on the internet.

Rikki Ram is in Connaught Place. They seem to be experts in sitar. Even the Beatles used to buy there.
