Moti Mahal restaurant

What is the best night to go to the Moti Mahal in Old Delhi? We were there on a Thursday but were ready to leave just as things were picking up... alas. We'll be in Delhi a week, so what's the hot night?

Moti Mahal had seen better days. So just move a little farther and seek out Karims near Jama Masjid

Despite both your words that Moti Mahal has seen better days, we still plan on going back. The night we were there was looking to get packed, people were very friendly, the singer was performing classic filmi songs, and that's the type of place we want to be. Is Friday night a good night for it? how about Saturdays?

What goes on at Karims in the evening? Is there entertainment? We were there for lunch but the set up is so spread out and in different rooms and on different levels that I don't know what we would see. Please advise.

We're in Delhi a week, so we have time enough to do both. It isn't a matter of "either/or".

karims do not have any provision for entertainment...its all about food..in Mughlai cuisine they are arguably best in India..

not sure about Moti Mahal.. as a local have never been to that place..

The guide books said they have a qawwali singer but the guy that was there didn't sing anything but Golden Age Bollywood songs. They were taking requests but he and the band didn't know any of the qawwali songs I suggested. I can't remember what I ate, but I think I liked it. The evening was very much fun nevertheless, and this time we want to make it later.

And about Karim's being all about the food... Hurray! I love traditional Indian food but love the meat-based Mughlai foods all the more. John has mentioned that we'd probably go there twice.

I am a Born vegetarian..neverthless I go there with my friends who are fond of Mutton..

if you wanna give a shot..try Mutton Burra..its tandoori mutton..with some chutney and butter to go by..

Korma is alo famous..but my friends prefer Chicken Jehanigiri..and if you really wanna sample other non-veg Mughlai/Punjabi cuisune while you are in delhi..do let me know..
