No-one's mentioned the Gandhi Smriti

I had just two days to spend in Delhi when I visited a few months ago - the Gandhi Smriti was definitely one of the highlights for me - fascinating, and profoundly moving.

Just started reading William Dalrymple's "The Last Mughal" - he seems familiar with a lot of those "hidden gems", but reports and mourns huge losses and neglect of Delhi's past. I wonder if other people who know Delhi well recognise his view?

On a different note - I never made it to the Museum of Toilets - not perhaps a "monument" but I guess a place of interest - anyone been there?

Yes bhai Shashank there are so many unknown historical relics scattered all over Delhi.

And machadinha I too often wonder why so many travellers want to rush out of Delhi.
Not just monuments, scratch Delhi and you will find a lot of cultural activities too.
And places to eat?

That is true. The number of monuments that exist in this country, the govt will NEVER have enough money to maintain all of them. So it's picked a few hundred of the most important ones - hell, Delhi is built on the ruins of earlier cities, dig deep enough and there's rubble to be found everywhere.

delhi's past

I have seen most of these monuments. The nila masjid , chiragh i delhi and the lal gumbad I have saved up to visit next time. The problem is if they will still be there in 3 years when I plan to return. While digging goes on for the Metro I am sure new things are being dug up and then tossed aside. Only Rome has more history than Delhi.
The Problem is worse in Lahore.
