And the Lal Gumbad's text is nicely lifted from the ASI book I mentioned in #9.
I wudn't want to bet that the other sites' descriptions are not similarly lifted. Or shud that read "inspired by"?

I know u cut and pasted from the site, s v, I'm saying the site itself lifted their text from the ASI's book, without accreditation.

Not a prob for u, but ASI might consider it a copyright infringement.

AksharDham (Swami Narayan Temple) is a very nice place to visit but due to security reasons they do not allow photography.... On a average day you could find thousands of vehicle parked over there and lots of people visiting it daily... the main attraction is the structure and the musical fountain.

for me, the best monuments in india are those who are still living - not only those who are just beautiful, no matter how beautiful they are.

i would always spend a day at a living place, where normal people are attending, not just tourists. meenakshi temple in maduria is an example, despite also being a highly touristic spot and full of touts.

that's the reason why i'm planning my 48 hours in delhi very carefuly - i would certainly give a chance to a sufi shrine with qawwali music and neighbouring humayan tomb. i'm also considering lakshmi narayan temple. last time i enjoyed jama masjid and the neighbouring area - it's always fascinating for me to visit muslim quarters around mosques that just burst with life, food, street vibe which is tout-free.
any other tips?

South Delhi's Priceless Heritage

Humayun's Tomb is literally in the limelight.
Other interesting old monuments — like the Kalan Masjid, Khan-i-Khanan's Tomb — are scattered about the surrounding neighborhoods, some primarily used as giant, priceless wickets for informal cricket matches.
Shahpur Jat
Khirkee Mosque
Hauz Khas
Kotla Mubarakpur

Anyone who has seen the Hindi movie Fanaa -- in the movie, Aamir Khan's character (Rehan) takes Kajol's character (Zooni) to the tomb of a saint. What is that, and where is it? and it you can mention other things it's neaar, even better.

That's the mosque of sher shah at the Purana qila, one of the finest Indo afghan monuments in all of south Asia.It is well preserved too.

Not strictly monuments but museums:
The Dolls museum, The Train / Rail museum, Nehru Planetarium, The science museum
