Maternity Hospital Delhi

My husband and I are moving out to live in Delhi next month from London. I will be having a baby in the Spring and so we need to look into finding a good hospital in Delhi for this. Has anyone as an expat had any experience in giving birth in Delhi and can recommend a good hospital? We are willing to pay for the best if necessary. East West Medical Center has been mentioned to us as somewhere good, as has the Apollo. Any comments anyone has on these or any others would be very much appreciated!
Thanks

It will help others to reply better if you indicate which area of Delhi you will be living in (or likely to live in).

I am sure you don't want to drive a couple of hours in Indian city traffic while doing your Lamaze

Delhi has world class medical facilities, at almost every corner of Delhi be it north south east or west.

Till somebody with more names comes along..

Apollo (which you mentioned earlier) should be around 6/8 km from GKII, on a not very crowded route.

There will be quite a few nursing homes in GKII or vicinity. I am not fond of nursing homes; quality of care is often unknown and they are often not geared to handle any difficulties.

But perhaps we are asking the wrong question. I would suggest find an excellent doctor in Delhi and see what s/he has to say, too.

Apollo is a super specialty hospital and is not required in your case. Don't presume that there will be big problem and you will have to be rushed a big hospital with super docs and extra ordinary facilities. Just look for a Nursing home with clean, airy and sunny rooms, this is all that is required in this part of India

In GK II, there is a great birthing hospital called Foris La Femme. I know of many people who have delivered there and enjoyed it.

My wife gave birth at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Saket, and it was a very nice experience. Everything went very smoothly, we never had any worries as far as cleanliness, safety, etc. This hospital is very similar to any hospital in the U.K. and the U.S.

For having a child, I would choose either of these two hospitals over Apollo.

Thank you very much. In fact the Max hospital has also been mentioned to me as somewhere very good. I will go and see it as well as the birthing hospital you mentioned.

Would definitely recommend Max Hosp in Saket. My sister has diabetes and visited the hospital every 3 months for consultations and treatments and rated it higher than any NHS or
private hosp in the UK. Also knew an American couple who had a baby there and where very happy with the service etc
