We stayed there last year and found it to be a wonderful place to relax before beginning our travels. It really is easy to get where you want to go; walk to the end of the street and catch a rickshaw. It is in a really nice residential part of Delhi. While it was a bit over our budget it was well worth it, and we booked ahead for our return trip out of Delhi. The only problem is there is there are only a few rooms and it is often booked well in advance. We still joke when we have a problem "where's Ushi" because we had a few difficulties upon arrival and she managed to make things right! I would highly recommend this place, although it's success makes it more difficult to get a room, but they are really deserving of their reputation.

Thanks for the input. How much did the pick up service cost? Or is it complimentary? By the way how far is the airport form there?

How much the guest house is far from the city center or from the main tourist places?
Thanks

It is 600Rp (roughly) for the pick up. It is a quick walk (10 minutes) to the metro and then no more than 10 minutes on the train. It is not a hassle to get quickly to the city.

I tried to contact the Master guest House one month ago. They replied on availability in 3 days but one date was wrong, so I asked for the correct date...but since that moment noone never responded again...even if I followed up. IS it normal?

We had no problem with communication with them the two times we stayed with them. Maybe there was a problem with the email. Pehaps give it another try.

Calling them is definitely preferred. There may be any number of reasons why your mail is not being answered.

Hi Saragat,
I tried to book a room for August at Master Paying Guesthouse, but I didn't get any reply until 5 days later and I had to explain all the details once again about dates&arrival. A couple of days later they told me that their hotel already is booked up and when asking about their Delhi tour they never answered me. I think the reviews are too good for them or simply that they really are VERY BUSY in this period. Anyway I think there are other good hotels with the same or even better service.
In bocca al lupo!!!

Hi Saragat,
I'm also very surprised that the Master Guesthouse already is booked up with 3 months in advance, maybe they prefer people who stay there for a longer time (we just asked for 1 night stay and airport pick-up) or who spend more money like the Americans... I think I'll go to Wongdhen House in Majnu Ka Tilla (wongdhenhouse@hotmail.com) which is a bit far from Connaught Place but not too far from Old Delhi. The reason is that I prefer to avoid Paharganj. Wongdhen House has very good reviews and the quality/price seems to be excelent. I also think of Yatri House but it's much more expensive.
Good luck!

P.D.: I'm Spanish but I have some Italian friends.

I was aware that I should have booked quite in advance but actually I send the first mail more than 1 month ago! Yes probaly they prefer who spend more nights there. We asked for one night + 2 nights after one week and also several pick ups...Any way I will have a look to the other places you mentiond.

Perhaps this explains why I'm having a hard time reaching them in Delhi. Your posts are nearly 2 years old and perhaps they've moved to Goa. Does anyone know if they are still in operation in Delhi? If they've moved to Goa, does anyone have their new information? Their website is still completely current for Delhi.

For some reason, I neglected to click through to the other, more recent posts. My apologies. Obviously there are lots of posts on this topic which are much more recent. Thanks.

Do they have a new phone number??

I have tried to call them from the United States using this number and I keep getting a recording that this number doesn't exist. It's the number in Frommer's, the New York Times, and all over the internet. Does anyone have a new number, or perhaps I'm not dialing correctly from the States?

I'm dialing: 011-91-11-2574-1089.

Thanks in advance for any help
