His tour starts about 6 AM. First stop is a sanctuary for monkeys, pigs, cows and assorted wildlife. People (like you, if you want) go there to feed them and start the day with good Karma. Next is the early morning flower market that is teaming with activity, but all signs of it will be gone by 9 AM. Then a short visit to the Jama Masjid, because you can go back on your own time. Exploring the narrow, crowded streets of Chadni Chowk was my favorite. We ate a wonderful breakfast of freshly cooked street food, had chai and later, lassis (no one got sick). Then we went to a wonderful Sikh Temple where they prepare meals every day for anyone who wants it, regardless of beliefs, sex, financial status, nationality, etc. You can help with the preparation if you want to- it's all voluntary. Along the way, he pointed out other places to check out on our own. We ended with a visit to a wonderful Hindu Temple and an excellent lesson on their religion. It's fascinating stuff no matter what your faith.
I'm glad to hear the Goa plans are going well. We will have to visit them again when they open their spiritual center there. |

Master Paying Guest House Delhi
Does anyone have up to date details for Master Paying Guest House?
I have attempted to email 2 weeks ago but no reply. Has anyone successfully emailed or contacted them recently that could pass on the details? |

Master Paying Guesthouse
I was there last week so I can assure you the guesthouse is alive and well. I used the e-mail and phone numbers given on their website. How about a quick call to Ushi if nothing else works?

I was there in April and had a look at the place. Yes, the taxi driver stopped numerous times to ask for directions, and we found that it was about 15mins drive from Connaught Place.
Inside it is the cutest, peaceful place. We didn't get to meet the owners on the day, but even the people that work there are so nice and have a calming effect. I would have liked to stay there but they were fully booked for weeks. They were helpful and allowed us to stay and use their library of travel books to look for alternate accommodation. My recommendation is that if you are planning to stay there then do book in advance. |

Master Paying Guest House
Adumim
Just to update you, I have not actually stayed there but am working and living in Delhi right now and was amazed to realise my accommodation is about 3/4 houses down from this place. Because of the questions that I kept seeing on this site I decided to pay them a visit so I could give an honest description of the place. I met what I think is the wife of the owner, very sweet and very nice to talk too. I explained that I kept seeing the place on Indiamike and wanted to have a look so I could recommend if necessary. She very kindly showed me around and I have to say the place looked lovely and very clean. She showed me one of the rooms and also upstairs there were rooms with a balcony. The place was very homely, small but furnished out in a lovely way. I would have no hesitation in staying there myself and would recommend any friends who come over to visit to stay there if I cannot accommodate them in my flat. The location is not as bad as it is made out here. Rather than asking the rickshawwallahs to drop me at my flat I tend to ask them to take me to Shanker Road which is the main road which the guesthouse is just off. All drivers I have been in contact with (have been here 2 months) have had no problem with the Shanker Road as it is one of the main routes in North West Delhi. A rickshaw ride is about 20-30 mins from the guesthouse and costs approximately 25 rupees on the meter. Always get a metered rickshaw. There are plenty of rickshaws about on the Shanker Road and I have always managed to get one. New Rajender Nagar is a very nice, pleasant residential area North West of Delhi and I have had no problems getting to all parts of Delhi from there. If you have any questions that you would like to ask me please feel free to PM me and I will answer to the best of my ability. If you need me to visit the place on your behalf i.e. find out booking availability then let me know and I can just walk to their place and try and sort something out. I look forward to hearing from you.

This is the map they hand out to each guest. When I stayed at MPGH in April I was taking a walk in the neighborhood and got lost (as usual, I have no sense of directions). I stopped walking and as soon as I took out this map out of my pocket, a young man who was walking by stopped and asked me if I was looking for Master Paying. I nodded yes, and he showed me the way to the guesthouse. So this map proved to be useful but I didn't need it for autorickshaws. As Indianworker says, every auto driver knew Shanker Road and New Rajinder Nagar.

Any update on this guest house? I looked at the website and it seems still working...so they did not move so far to Goa, I assume.
Still good place where to stay? are bathroom shared with the other guests? |

For those who maybe interested - here are two pics.
The view from the upstairs verandah, and the verandah itself.

Hi,
I've just left this place and its really nice. 2 rooms and a converted meditation room on the top floor and 2 rooms downstairs. The staff are really friendly. Avnish, the owner, gave us ideas of what to see and where to eat and the plans worked fine. He also gave us tips on how to commmunicate effectively with the rickshaw drivers; some of whom spoke poor English. If you need to use his internet to send email or check anything out he is more than willing for you to do so, but I found it was polite to be brief; maybe 30 mins. The main rooms cost 1895R (tax included) and the smaller (single bed) meditiation room is 895 or 495, im not 100% sure. I'd definately advise this place for the beginner to settle you in to the hectic city. The airport transfer is also good. Our flight was an hour late and the driver was still patiently waiting with my name on a board and a welcome letter from Avnish and Ushia (his wife) Hope this helps Mark
