I'm booked in there in two weeks time, first time and all I can tell you is that the host Ushi and Avnish are both very obliging people, I organised rail tickets to be delivered there and needed them forwarding them to me in OZ as the tickets are from Mumbai to Delhi, Avnish organised these to be deliverd to OZ at his own cost to me in Australia, I will settle him for the costs when we arrive, but when we read everything about hotels and hotelliers these people havew been trustworthy and reliable, also there hotel has had lsiting in the LP I checked there web site and called one of ther giests in the guset book who lived in NSW...it was a genuine entry and the person confirmed everything writtedn about how good the hotel was and the friendliness of the staff.

I stayed there in November. Excellent! We had the Ganesha room. Avnish and Ushi are wonderful people. Don't miss out on Avnish's half-day Hidden Delhi tour. He does them on Wed. and Sat. You'll see places no other tour would show you and you wouldn't find on your own.

Thanks to the three of you.

Skell: Did you find that the guesthouse was too far away from the center of Delhi? Also how much did they charge you. They are charging me 600R. I think that it's a fair price.

Depending on the traffic, it takes about half an hour to get to CP. The biggest problem was getting back. The rickshaw drivers always say they know where they're going even when they don't. Then after getting lost and stopping numerous times to ask directions, they want to charge more than the agreed upon price because it took so long! We never paid it though.

We stayed at Master Guesthouse for 2 nights, then moved to a hotel in Karol Bagh of another 2 nights. It was a good transition. Yes, 600 was what we payed also, plus extra for an airport pickup. If you want to eat there, they have good home-cooked vegetarian meals in their dining room and you can have breakfast in the dining room, in your room or on the upstairs veranda - very nice!

Alright thanks a lot for the info. I think what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna stay there for 2 or 3 nights, just to get over the jetlag and the cultural shock then i'm gonna head up to the heart of things once i'm accustomed to India.

That sounds perfect! It worked very well for us and Avnish will recommend things to see and do the first couple of days to ease in to India. Please tell him and Usha that Sandy and Kathy send their regards!

Just returned from India, The MAster Paying Guest House was great, Ushi was in charge as Avnish was off in Goa looking for a suitable place to move their business. The place is spotless , we stayed in the Khrisna room 600IR each, plent of other travellers who all pass on their experiences and information. Ushi also spent time with each guest and offered any assistance, they are genuine honest people, the showers and toilets are shared but work well and agian the lads cleaning the areas were great and hard at it all the time with no requests for backshees, the meals are great value and cheap. we were paying about 50Ir to go to connought Place and had no problems in getting a auto rickashaw or taxi.
I have no hesitation whatsoever at recommending this place to anyone. We spent 6 nights there and met Avnish on his return . I hope that there move to Goa will be pleasent and I have asked them for details of their move

Still There

we left there just over a week ago and Avnish had just returnd from Goa where he is looking for another Hotel property. They are definatley there and all the posative feedback is genuine we would have no problem telling anyone to stay there, the rooms arent the flashest places but they are spotless, Just an added touch that they give to thier guests was each night a hot water bottle appeared on our bed for each of us, one night we even came home about midnight and the room boy came up with the hot water bottle for our bed. The staff a great and don't bother the guests for tips at all like many hotels and are constantly cleaning and tidying up. The assitance from Ushi and Avnish is invaluable. What room did you Get? we stayed in the Khrishna room. Please give our regards to them they are really fantastic people.

there are three rooms upstairs on the terrace I cant remember what they were called, a friend was staying in a single room I think as it was pretty small but okay for one, the other rooms looked okay and the rooftop area was nice, the shower up there wasn't the best though and the guests used to sneak down and use the other floors, I think we would have liked to have got one of these rooms, ask for the largest one it has double doors opening out onto the rooftop. The meals at the MPGH are good also and the rooftop was a good place to have them. When you meet Ushi she is the tiniest lady but has an incredible calming effect and she is very softly spoken, ask her about the Rikki healing(I think that how its spelled) As for the trips Avnish was away initially so we missed out on one, you need 3 people to do the tour and would have no problem getting one together, We travelled around Delhi pretty well but I think thee tour he does would be a great experience.

Talking to Avnish about their move to Goa it will probably take some time and after your trip to India you'll realise why,
