Luggage storage / Left luggage in Delhi
Hi there.
Im looking to leave a large bag in Delhi (containing kite-surfing equipment) for around 2 or 3 weeks. We were planning on leaving the bag in Delhi airport but have now found that this facility is no-longer available due to security reasons. We were reading about secure places in Train stations but have not yet found any. Does anyone know of any storage faciiies or hotels which have safe luggage storage? Thanks Dave Last edited by dave1986 : Oct 3rd, 2009 at 14:38. Reason: mistake in post |

We left our luggage at the luggage room of Hare Krishna Guest House at Main Bazaar. It's big enough, and costs next to nothing - I think you could try it too :-)

as far as I know hotels allow only resident guests to use their left luggage facility...

We use it twice, everytime we left our bags for about a month, and everything was OK :-) |

As far as I know, they don't and I agree with you. This is something that must be enforced without any leniency.
But hotels doing it is insanity. It will cost them a lot more than they could ever hope to make, and it isn't money I am talking about. |

I left my luggage in India sooo often, in hotels, train stations and just left-luggage rooms - and it never have been checked. Perhaps at the airports they check it - don't know, but even at close secured Taj they never check my bags before take it to luggage room ![]() |

Last year when I was at the railway station in Chennai, (a day before Independence Day when apparently security is stepped up India wide) there were a couple of constables putting luggage through the x ray machines.
It was a joke, half the suitcases and bags were too large to go into the machine. The guy was simply putting the bags from one end and taking it out from the other, not looking at the monitor even once. Security at most places (not all) in India is simply window dressing. I think I have gone way off topic. So lets get back to OP's query. |

New Delhi stations cloak room can be very very busy, I've seen queues 20-30 people long, and with the speed these cloak room staff deal with things, that could be a long wait.
