There's a great restaurant / bar in the main market at Defence colony.
I can't remember the name, but there are three of four different rooms with different cuisine, and in the main one they have a dj and sometimes live music. It's a really cool place, lovely decor very modern and classy. You'll enjoy it and so will she! Perhpas someone else can enlighten us on the name???
It's just on the ned of one of the buildings.

Victoria - are you thinking about Defence Colony or Greater Kailash Market N Block, as I came across a few places like you describe in GK Market in February.

One was a restaurant called Zaffran: nice upmarket ambience (if not particularly cheap). On the other floors of the same building were other restaurants (I think one was serving Italian food, I forget what the other one was).

We also went to a trendy designery yuppie lounge bar called Urban Pind, also GK Market N block, with at least 2 floors, pseudo-Khajuraho reliefs on the walls. Again it wasn't cheap, and I think they have DJs some evenings.

I had a good meal at Sagar in Defence Colony, but it was definitely a functional canteen atmosphere, with tasty dosas, rather than a snog-your-girlfriend-in-the-dark-corners bar!

Mrs C,

I'm not too familier with GK so I can't be thinking of that place, although it does sound good! The place i'm thinking of isn't on the cheap side (for india) but it's the same price i'd be prepared to spend on a decent meal and a drink here in Europe.
It wasn't at all the canteen style - the main room was almost tex/mex design with hides and furs on high stools at the bar and funky sofas with original wooden tables and quirky shaped chairs. You know the type of place. Damn it I stil can't remember the name! oh well. nevermind.

kpl, if you indicate which part of Delhi either you or the lady is staying in, somebody should be able to help better.

also the budget. Because the easiest answer is head to a coffee shop of a five star hotel- or a bar or resteraunt there.

in CP, go to Blues in outer Circle, Zen in Inner circle, All Sports Bar in Regal building, QBA in inner circle.

South Delhi is full of such places, go to Khan Market, Defence Colony, New Friends Colony, GK1, GK2, east of Kailash, Priya Comples, PVR Anupam comples and you will find loads of such places. I would be difficult for me to sit here and comment.

You can try http://delhi.burrp.com , it might have some good reviews for you.

What you are referring to is a building called Moets....it house 3-4 different restauraunts....stone, the shack (sea food), and a normal multicusinine as well.

There is an additional Moets as well called Moets sizzlers on the other side of the market. Havent not been there fo a while so wont bother commenting on the food.

If u wanna hang out in Def Col.... probably u may wanna go to Mocha's ... It's gud... a lil expensive though... If its just dinner ur talkin abt... U may wanna try moets or Sagar... U have more than enough restaurants in Def Col...

Specifically dinner only.. U may also go to the Pandara Rd Market near India Gate.. its not that big a market though...

U may also try... some great restaurants in the CP.... eg. The Chinese... Indi China, Cuba ... n all... They all are gud...

Mod Note
Hi wsminkapila. If you could use full words instead of text language, it would be very much appreciated. Its an international audience here on IM, and english is hard enough in full at times, without using text as well. Thanks for your understanding and help with this.
