Marte -- Where is Tai Wok located? Thanks for the advice. It sounds a nice combination.

highly recommended. and, perhaps a general read on sufi-ism in india, turkey and persia (with africa thrown in!) will make you appreciate it more.
There's a great description of the quwwali singing in Nizamuddin in William Dalrymple's book, The City of Djinns - if the OP reads it, he'll be sorry he has only one day in Delhi!

just be where you are is enough to be 'enough'
if you think you are up for more give us, the delhi IMers a shout, I'm sure one of us would be there to show you 'his/her delhi'.
yes we all have 'my delhi' kinda thing.

Right on! How do I give the Delhi IMer's a shout!? Next, I just discovered my Friday excursion to Agra and the Taj is a total mistake as it's closed on Friday! Being such the world traveller, I already booked the train ticket, and am leaving for Mumbai Saturday. ANYWAY, I didn't want to pay the entrance fee so I'm ok with it. I'll just look from outside. It just goes to show you can't always get it right. Thanks for writing, and I'd like to meet a real, authentic Delhi IMer sometime.

can anyone suggest a good vantage spot for owen to see the taj from outside - it's not that easy the walls are solid but i'm sure i remember people suggesting spots (probably hotel rooftops!)

If you can't get into the Taj compound on Friday, go to Fathepur Sikri instead. It's the abandoned capital of the Mughal Empire and more fascinating than the Taj, IMHO.

And you can give a Delhi IM'er a shout by sending a PM - if you can figure out who the Delhi wallahs (like vinayverma) are. Some people list their location in their profile.

Are all their potties in good working condition - never hurts to know where all the local pitstops are - especially after 10 cups of chai.

I never had a cup of tea before I made it to India. Suddenly it's up front, first and foremost on the social/higgling/haggling circuit. Indians are Tea Freaks! Kawa/chai/masala/queen's choice/maharaja's special bend ... you name it .... you got it ... drink it to slow and they'll bring you a fresh cup ..... drink it to fast and they'll replenish .... politely decline and they will keep asking kindly. The bottom line is you need to make room ..... for MORE TEA! The more potties the better!

Where is the toilet museum? I have been trying to locate it for a while. I swear I think I passed it the other day when I passed Dilli Haat, but I'm not certain.
