Cool Looking for that one brilliant thing in Delhi...

Hey. Will be in Delhi next week. Looking for that one thing (like wow) to see or do that only a very hip, cool person could have already stumbled on and wished every other "like" person could witness. Maybe you can help me?
Later.

If this was the year 1738 you could head to the Red Fort to see the Peacock Throne! That was one brilliant thing! However, since you will be a little to late for that encounter, I would head down to the Yumana river where the mahouts hang out and hire an elephant with howdah for a sightseeing jaunt around old Delhi - Maharaja style.

Take the metro to Chawari Bazaar station about 4pm on a Sunday and wander down the side alleys until you get lost - a real time trip! Just make sure to get to the steps of the Friday mosque (Jama Masjid) by sundown.

Thumbs up

Even though I'll be staying in India for some time, I happen to be in Delhi only Thursday night, so I'll be there. Anyplace in particular? And did I say thanks, bro?

if you go to nizamuddin east opposite humayuns tomb, there is a crowded old city area which is the center of sufi history in this part of the world.

Sufi devotional songs/ qawwali are performed every Thursday evening in the open air in front of the 16th century marble shrine of Sufism's greatest saints, Nizamuddin Auliya. Your dress needs to be appropiate (normal trousers and shirt will do, take a handkerchief to cover your head) and be prepared to sit cross-legged on the floor. It's an unforgettable experience. (usually 5 to 8 pm)

for more info.

highly recommended. and, perhaps a general read on sufi-ism in india, turkey and persia (with africa thrown in!) will make you appreciate it more.

Ok this is all about food,

- do goto Caventers in Inner circle at Connaought Place and have their milk shakes, vanill & pineapple are must try.
- then do goto Wengers the hallmark Delhi Bakery and confectionary shop, just beside Cavanters in Inner circle in Connaught place...man its chocolate Caramel, Bagguets, rolls, cakes, pastries.......
- Haldiram's Lajpat Nagar Branch ( do have their Malpua with rabri)
- Big Chill at Khan Market superb Medditerranean food and deserts.
- Dilli Haat...visit this place in late evening and at night...experience the sheer variety of the food stalls and handicraft stalls
- Sarwana Bhavan on Janpath C.P. for its South Indian food

Places to visit
- National Museum at Janpath, though sections of it are not well mantained but still its amazing...its collection of the historical and valuable artifacts is huge.
- Akshardham Temple near Noida Delhi Highway, its huge and magnificent.

Many thanks for those leads. I support a kids charity in Goa and would be good to do so in Delhi. I'll do the walk,
