Greetings and thank you to everyone that contributes to this great site. It has been a wonderful way to learn about travelling in India.
I will be arriving at Delhi airport in late December and I'm wondering how I can store a suitcase packed with trekking gear to be used in Nepal in March. i.e. is there a reliable long-term left-luggage at Delhi Airport. many thanks, David |

I'm sorry but I can't find any specific info on the left luggage at DEL
I should have been more specific: 1]Is the Delhi (Int terminal) left luggage open between 1am and 6 am? 2]Can I store a bag there for two months? 3]Is it safe and reliable? 4 How much do they charge? |

Maybe you didn't get Shashank right. All the way at the bottom of each page, this one too, there is a listing of "similar threads." You should find some answers there, or if not, try to search the site using the search engines, the site has its own, and can also be searched by Google.
It's a common question, although I've never seen a clear answer to how long you can use it for, for instance. Anyway maybe someone else will know, but check out those threads by all means. They will offer that same box with more similar threads again, etc., so have fun with it. All I can tell you is if they have one it will be safe and cheap, and I'd be surprised (but can't be sure) if they wouldn't open as long as there are flights going on. The rest, I don't know. If the period is limited, a clueless tourist with the right attitude may open doors that were otherwise shut, if you know what I mean (or they may very well not). Alternatively, many guesthouses in town, certainly of the backpacker variety, offer luggage storage, and it's common for trekkers and others to stash their gear there while they're off doing other things. Paharganj would be a good area for this. Likewise cheap (or possibly cheaper), you pay per piece of luggage and per day. All packs need to be lockable (and locked), presumably to stop you from claiming anything was taken from them later. (The same rule applies at train station left luggage rooms btw, known as "cloak rooms.") Just check that the storage facility in question has a steady clientele (i.e., not some shady place with hardly a customer), and it should be fine.

It will cost you about Rs.50 for each piece of your luggage per day at the airport.

Hmm... those guesthouse storages would probably be a lot cheaper then, don't you think? (Note that you don't usually have to be a guest to use those facilities, btw.) Do you know if the airport accepts long(er)-term storage, Jyoti?

Sorry can't say as I have never used this facility at any Indian airport, one of my friends did for one day only.

Hi Ken,
Did you receive an answer to your question?? I am going to India for 3 months and then to Beijing for 1-2 years, and will take with me things for both Beijing and India. Obviously i don't want to take with me all the things for Beijing around in India, and will need to leave them at the left luggage office in Delhi airport for almost 3 months... Did you find put at all whether you can leave it for a such a long period? Thanks a lot. lera |

Matuda, you may have noticed there's mention above of easy-to-use guesthouse storage facilities for all?
