Layover in Delhi......Enough time to shop?

My parents and I will arrive in Delhi at 9:20 and have to catch a domestic flight at 1:10pm. I would love to show them the shopping area near the train station (what would you call it?) Would we have enough time? Please advise!

Assuming you are arriving by train, the train is on time, and assuming it is New Delhi railway station, near Connaught place, I would keep around 80minutes to reach the domestic airport, including time taken to exit the station.

Reporting time is an hour before, or so, so that means you have to reach at noon. Doesn't leave you more than an hour or maybe an hour and a half max.

Enough time to drive around Connaught place and even stop at a shop or two, though. But for that you need to hire and keep a taxi with you.

I had to be one and a half hours ahead of flight time for domestic flights - this is because of security checking taking longer. So keep that in mind. At that time of day it takes almost an hour to reach the airport (Metro unfortunately not there yet). With your check- in time then you should be leaving the shopping area by 11 a.m. at the very latest. (You will be 30 mins. late for check-in but that will be o.k. I think)! So, as Captain says, only an hour at the most for shopping.. Are you going to CP or Paharganj or Karol Bagh?
after that train journey I think I'd find a nice place to sit down and have a good cuppa and refreshments before setting out to the airport and would skip the shopping!

Ahh..you're going domestic. I think Aishah is right w/the timeframe for domestic flights. I know for my international flight back to US - I gave myself 3 hours at the airport and made it to the gate just in time for boarding but that was just my experience. This did not include the one hour car ride from Defense Colony to the airport (rush hour). That was just my experience tho. If you (or your parents) are anxious fliers, I would allot more time for "error". Have fun shopping if you can squeeze it in!! Lots of fun stuff near Connaught place.

no, you do not. Don't even start.

Traffic (3 months ago anyway) is a nightmare going to the airport. and even if it wasn't, what kind of shopping can you do in a matter of a few minutes?
