Last minute hotel

Due to a combination of factors; I'll arrive in Delhi in the early hours of tomorrow morning without any booked accomodation.

I seem to recall mention of a desk at the airport where you can arrange immediate accomodation. Is this a good service, are they likely to be able to arrange a budget hotel at a fair rate?

Alternatively I guess I could try to book one from the U.K. at this late stage, would this be a better option?

I guess the third alternative is to make my way to the railway station area, and take my chances on finding somewhere suitable on the spot.

Any thoughts?

Hi ricco
I did the same last year. Flew from Milan to Dheli via Amsterdam and booked the hotel at Schipol airport via booking.com (the hotel was Chand Palace 54, Arakashan Road, Pahar Ganj, Near Nav Shakti School, 110055 New Delhi)

I had the same situation in Mumbai, I took my chances and found a guy outside the airport who was obviously waiting for people like me, at first I thought he would try and rip me off, but the hotel was good and the price was acceptable. There will probably be similar people in Delhi if you want to take the risk.

I have mentioned it earlier that 95% of Indian tourist do not prefer to get their Hotel nooked in advance...

they go to the spot..find the hotel themselves, haggle the price over the counter...review the rooms and then stay..

I have been doing this all my life...and trust me have never gone without a room..

All in all..if you have not booked a hotel in advance..that should not be a major issue in 80% of the cases..
