Jami Masjid in Delhi - latest?

Latest LP says 150Rs is a cost of use of camera in Jami Masjid in Delhi. When I visited it last april there was mandatory donation of 250Rs. I did not ask for climbimg southern minaret, guidebook says 20Rs but probably it's also outdated.

Had anybody here climbed it recently and for how much?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I was there last August/September and haven't paid a rupee. I've made some pics not too much because the day was not very clear.

How you manage it?
When I came there with my friend there were people on the gate who showed big poster with current rate - 250Rs for camera and they did not allow foreigners in even without camera. So I had to pay. But was afraid of asking them about climbing minaret - maybe their appetites had shot up astronomically. Today I have seen some pictures made from minaret and wonder how much it would cost me next time in Delhi.

did not kow one could climb the minaret.. a lot of the minarets are closed after the deaths in Qutb Minar. Remmber the Jama Masjid is a functioning mosque and can get quite corwded especially on Fridays

I don't know how I managed. May be it depends of the gate or the hour of the day, i've been so many times in Jama Masjid that I'll not pay a single rupee, normally I go there to seat peacefully on the shadow to see how muslim life goes by; and afterwards to see the downstairs market behind the Masjid.

I was there a month ago on Sunday late afternoon, and the old guy at the gate insisted that every ferenghi pay 150 bucks to get in, camera or not. Locals and those sufficiently Muslim-looking were of course allowed to wander in and click away to their hearts' content with cameras, cell phones, etc. I had a wonderful time abusing the gate-keeper for a few minutes and then left, but then I've been in there several times before for free, minaret climbing and all. Just don't go at rush hour. Actually, the prices quotes by cycle rickshaw drivers outside were even funnier than Osama's toothless uncle at the gate.
