Is Delhi the rape capital of India or a victim of warped reporting?

Travellers reading this forum will also be heartened to learn that the article stated that the majority of victims were illiterate.

None of which would offer any comfort to the Delhi residents who were attacked, but it does suggest that there is far less reason for travellers to avoid what has been reported as the "Rape Capital of India".
i think the arguement was about whether delhi was the rape capital of india or not, not whether tourists should avoid delhi.

I just looked at the second hit on your list, and guess what it said in big letters, right at the top of the page?

The intention of this story is not to declare Delhi, or any other city, the rape capital.

Own goal!
yes. thats to make it clear that they (like me) have no axe to grind against delhi - but are reporting plain facts, WHICH clearly indicate Delhi to be the er.. rape capital.

Mod note

This thread was born of offtopic posts moved from another one. I hoped it would logically and maturely discuss a valid concern travellers may have.

But it is going nowhere.

so closed.
