Info. Required on Delhi Zoo.

Hi,

On our way to Manali & Leh we (me & wife) would be coming by Garib Rath to Hazrat Nizammudin Station (reaching time 9.45 AM) & then would have around 5 - 6 hrs time before I catch a Volvo @ 5.30 PM (Raj Travels - Connaught Place) to Manali. In this time we would like to explore Delhi zoo. I have checked the link delhizoo.org but the same opens to a different page. Would be helpful to me if fellow Imers could answer my following querries:-

1] What are the timings of the Zoo during August ? On which day zoo is closed. I think it's closed Fridays but still need to confirm.

2] How far is zoo from the Hazrat Nizammudin station ? Suggest suitable mode of public transport. If public transport not available what will be approx. taxi fare.

3] Distance between Zoo & Karol Bagh (http://www.hotelswati.com/ my favourite place for eating in Delhi - Gujarati Thali).

4] Distance between Zoo - Connaught place & Karol Bagh - Connaught place.

5] Any further tips which will help me in checking out zoo in a better way is also welcome.

Please note that I been to Delhi 2 - 3 times & have seen all the historical & other places except this Zoo. Hence my only target this time is the Delhi zoo. I am yet to go to Akshardham temple but that can be visited while returning from Leh.

Delhi zoo is the only zoo I have ever been too and do not find anything exceptional about it...but here is your info..

2. Hazrat Nizmmudin to Zoo would be 10-20 minutes in an auto rickshaw.

3. It would take 30-45 minutes.

4. Zoo - CP 20-30 minutes.. CP - Karol bagh - 10-15 Minutes.

Thanks for the info. I have been to 3 - 4 zoos (Mumbai. Thiruvananthapuram, Mini Zoo at Port Blair) in the country. I have learnt that Delhi zoo is much better than Mumbai zoo & is the second best after Hyderabad Zoo. Hence my decision to visit the Zoo. Could you tell me approx. fares for each route ?

Well the longest route is Zoo to Karol Bagh and iut should bot exceed Rs.50-70 for an auto..

Delhi zoo is very close to NHZ Railway station, just 2 km from the station. The zoo opens at 8 AM in moringing and entry closes at 5 PM evening every day, and remains closed on Fridays entry fee is Rs 10 for adults, Rs 5 for children below 12 years. Entry fee for Still camera is Free and Video camera personal Rs 50/day and professional Rs 500/day there are buses available from Rly station to zoo. CP is just 3 Km from Zoo and Karol bagh is just another 3 km from CP, The Best option to karol bagh is to take Metro from CP.

Take an auto to Mandi house from the zoo and take the metro to Karol Bagh

You mean auto from the zoo to Mandi house & then metro to Karol Bagh.

zoo is 10 mins max from auto from Nizammudin.....shouldnt cost more than 30 bucks.....

take an auto to Pragati Maidan metro station (20 bucks) and take metro from there for Karol Bag (15mins)

Hey Kshitish....your information was incorrect. :|

Delhi zoo operates in summer till 15 OCT from 0900 - 1600 . and from 16OCT - thru the winters from 0930 - 1630.

i know cos i waited there from 0800....thanks to the info found here .....
